I have great difficulty reading for myself.  I can do a one card meditation for myself at the beginning of my day, but as far as an actual reading, it just never seems to work out.   Reading for others isn't a problem.  Any tips or suggestions on how to get better focusing on myself? and my questions? I think maybe my mind wanders a bit when its me I'm focusing on.  (If that makes any sense??)

Hi i have just read your post and thought i would tell you what i do.

When i am doing a reading for myself, I make sure i know what my question is very clearly.  If i am unsure i write the question down on a piece of paper in front of me and focus on that when i am shuffling the cards.  I also make sure i am away from other people so no distractions etc.

I think you should just use your intuition as to what the cards mean for you and not pore over every detail as the cards might get a bit wary of you and not perform well.  Don't ask the question over and over again as the cards get annoyed with you.

Do you have a deck that you use just for yourself?  I find this helps a lot.  And I stick to a simple 3 card spread, a part of the AWEN Spread in the Druid tradition.  This is used for gettin a look at the hidden dynamics of a situation, or gaining insight into something.  I use it for a daily what do I need to know for this day...when I am feeling clogged and the 1 card isn't enough information.

The three cards represent the seed ideas, or key influences in your past, present and future.    The cards are placed in 1 2 3 order: 1-being the past, 2-being the present and 3-being the future.  Be sure you don't over simplify the future card, but understand it is indicating guiding factors in the future, not a set in stone outcome.

I would suggest bypassing your inner thoughts by focusing on your "trusted diety or figures" such as Jesus or Artemis.  More like meditate on it, actually; and stop side tracking on the affect of your questions.  Blank your self out basically,  repeat the question, and rely on the "trusted diety."

Usually , what I do ( it might sound strange ) I shuffle the cards and I get my friend to lay them out. ( she doesnt know anything about tarot cards lol ) I find , its easier to read my own cards that way!
