Hi,
At different times I started to keep a list of different spreads and all the info about them that I could find.
But I kept coming back to the 2 or 3 spreads that I used all the time, anyway.
The only time I used a different spread would be when I did readings for people around New Year's to see what the year ahead was going to be like for them. Then, I would use a 12-card spread and I'd lay the cards out as it "felt" best to do. Sometimes it would be 3 rows of 4 cards, sometimes 2 rows of 6, etc. But that was at the start of the year for the whole year, just to begin the reading with.
I feel if a person believes using a particular spread and in a particular way is best for them, then that's what they should do. In my case for me, I don't feel that way. I feel, for me at least, I can ask the question and put the cards anywhere and I'll get the answers. The card is going to give you the info. However, the position of the card can give a little extra help. For instance, the 6th card in the Celtic Cross spread is the short term outcome as opposed to the 10th card which is the final outcome.
So, it all depends on what the reader wishes to do.
Hope this helps,
