One thing that I havent quite understtood yet is how professional tarot readers can predit timeframes. For example if someone asks "How long will it be when I get the new job?" how do the tarot readers some up with answers like "in 6 weeks" or in "February" etc...

Do any of the cards denote numbers or timeframes? Would love to know the views of you guys... thanks

Niravcal - Samantha made a post on the celtic cross that gave some general timelines like 3-6 months, etc... but nothing as specific as what your suggesting.  I would also like to know how to give an accurate timeline for people.  Hope more people have some input on this question.

One method would be to assign the four different seasons to the four suits.
For most people Wands are for the Summer (heat <g>), Swords for autumn (air) , Pentacles for Winter (earth) and Cups for Spring (water).
Then we have Ace of Wands for the first week, Two of Wands for the second one etc. The King of each suit is for the end of the season, the last two three days. or, to some, for the centre of the season.
As to the Majors, they can represent longer periods of one's life. (beginning from being a baby to being a crone) but generally represent fatal events that cannot be controlled, thus, no time frame can be applied here.
If the cards are reversed there is delay, which means you will not start counting from this season <g>.
To some others every card drawn siginifies what should happen first, what lesson should be attained or what obsracle should be surmounted in order to achieve one's goal/ fulfil one's wish.
To others the two active suits (Wands, Swords) talk about the immediate future (one of them for days, the other one for weeks), whereas the two 'passive' suits talk about longer periods that have to pass (months/ years).
This means that if you have the seven of Wands for example it could mean seven days.
I do not especially favor this method, although it seems that the reader's intent and belief in his/her system is very important.

i usually take out 12 cards indicating the months and the first card that is not reversed i take that is the indication of the month and then keep on taking out cards from 1 to 30 and similiarly the first straight card i use as the date.

There is a well recognised time frame plan that you can use as a guideline

The suits can tell the units of time, so..
Pentacles - years
Wands - months
Cups - weeks or days
Swords hours or days

Ace of Pentacles approximately one year
Ace of Wands approximately one month
Ace of Cups approximately one week
Ace of Swords approximately one day

Kings and Queens usually mean priority, immediate, very soon
Knights, Pages Princesses etc not so immediate,

and so

6 of Pentacles six years
6 of Wands 6 months
6 of Cups 6 weeks
6  of Swords 6 hours

At the end of the day trust your intuition and instincts.
