Hello.

There is no real solid definition of what the Ankh symbol means as no one really knows.

From what i know the Ankh means the overcoming of the duality of life.  Ie the masculine and the feminine has been over come or combined to a sort of neutrality and this means that the Ankh can then become the key to the opening of the spirit world because of its neutrality.

The Ankh is also called the symbol of life and in modern times its come to symbolise life and immortal life.

The eagle is the "King of Birds" and a symbol of might and valor. The eagle is one symbol of connection with divinity.
Many ancient sources have an eagle as part of their myths, very often associated with the sun god.
Among the Christian symbols, the eagle is often seen on baptismal fonts.

Sounds like your husband has picked a pretty powerful symbol.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I hope its ok to add this, the ankh is the Egyptian symbol of life, combining the god and the goddess and is commonly found near or next to the god Horus, who is portrayed as a hawk, which also symbolises the ba. Horus was slain and so the symbol of life is supposed to ressurect him and protect all that wear it

Be careful how you put the two together though as the meaning can change.
