Dr. Korzybski teaching a class once offered the students in the front row some biscuits. They ate them readily and found them to be very good. While they were eating them he displayed the package which showed the picture of a Dog head holding a biscuit. Shortly there after a number of the students became quite ill. The biscuits were for people and tasted fine but the image altered their preception.

The swastika has been around for hundreds of years and was seen as a sympbol of good luck. Hilter in the period of a decade succeed in changing that preception.

Find the right symbol and change the world?

Well, generally, when a symbol is used to represent a genocidal group, it gets labeled 'bad'.  There's a difference in what a symbol means and what the people who are using it to represent themselves are doing.

I don't know about symbols changing the world, but more like the world changing the meanings of symbols.

By the way, I'd be smacking around one Dr. Korzybski if I thought he fed me dog biscuits...

Interesting post Metatron.

Sometimes we seek things, but in our search we miss the point.

Many symbols. Many meanings?

Many symbols. No meanings?

You are missing the point Sei no Senshi.

They're tongues, nose and eyes told them it was human food, but when the teacher waved the symbol in their face their cerebral cortex told them their limbic system was lying!

Its called branding of the brain. Advertisers use it constantly. All the cars look the they same but put a Mercedes Benz symbol on it and see how many people think the car runs better.

Then theres the reverse example of this in René Magritte painting
"This is not a pipe." Letting you know don't be duped.

The brain goes into semantic override when you get the symbol right

I prefer a BMW anytime. . and a nice bright red ferrari will go nicely with my symbolic red nails   Then theres the reverse example of this in René Magritte painting
