For some this can smack of reincarnation - returning again and again to the earth life.  For progression (which is the constant) there is the afterlife of spirit existence to consider as future existence and learning.

Many do believe in reincarnation. I would not have believed it much, had I not had the experience myself. Energy can neither be created, nor destroyed. Energy that is bound together tends to remain so, such as the soul. I personally believe that we are here, ( and everywhere we go) to learn. Once that is understood, everything becomes a learning experience, good or bad. I do not like cauliflower. I do not like it any way it is prepared. But unless I had tried it, I would not have known that. I've learned that love enriches me, and hatered hurts me, wether I direct that love or hate outward or inward. How would you describe the taste of a strawberry to one that has never expereinced it? I could be the most eloquent writer on earth and describe it, analyze it's atoms, detail it's DNA, send you an hd picture of one.... but until you tasted it for yourself, you would not -understand- it. I think that is what life is about. Learning and experiencing.

The spirit/soul is the inner energy of continuity.  The material of the physical body dies.  It is dust to dust, in its temporary status.  

So while the energy of this life of learning lessons appears to have a material focus on our material life, it is actually the spirit/soul learning and growing for continuity.

While I have no knowledge of your experiences, I can assure you that spirit walks very close to us.  They impress us in so many ways.  I have found that another explanation for other lives may just be the spirit that is around the individual.

I agree with you totally on everything but the last sentence, and I can even grant you part of that one! lol
The body is only a shell I wear to carry my soul around in. Eventually it wears out. The material world is what that body must deal with, while it functions. When I shed the body, I also shed that world.
Brings to mind Stephen Hawkins.... his body is a hopeless prison, his mind and spirit so alive! Or the sadu (sp?) of India, who seem to live only in their spirits, and only pay minimal attention to their physical forms.
My body is a biological thing, and is attracted quite naturally to biological beauty of others, but that is a surface attraction and I know it. What surprises people are the people I find Really attractive. Those whose outward looks are not biologically attractive, but their spirits  to me are compelling.
Balance between the spirit and the body, a good partnership I think is helpful for a balanced experience in this life.

Just to throw in a side view to the above....don't take me wrong....it is just so we can have another view on it.

Scientific it is proved that we are multiplied by parting cells,
Since we are parting of cells, and there is a steady increase of souls on earth, Earh's energy level must also increase, if not,each and one of us need to get a lower energy level as we increase in numbers.

In a way we are like an Atom Bomb that spring outwards, this is the same just in atoms, but since the space around  us is huge, we don't get the big bang....yet.

An atom bomb when made has a "low energy level" and when it goes off it has Megatons of it.

Again...just said as my view, that earths energy level has to increase, due to increase of souls. (and that means all living thing)
Where do this energy come from...main source outside Earth is the sun....without it...we would not have  been here...
