Meditation is about your own mind.  Skip the guided meditations for now - they are hypnosis anyway and not meditation.

I would highly recommend that you sit with your feet on the floor not under you.  If you must sit cross legged, do so on the floor.  Sitting on something (bed) can leave room for the spirit to flow all around you and cause disruption.

Grounding and protection to begin.  Then set the stage - a quiet room, some music (optional), a chair to sit upright, and then do breathing exercises to forget about the physical body - the ones where you tense and relax various parts of the body in turn.

Instead of individual chakras - open a circle from the crown to send out your intent to the highest source (God) and allow the flow that is for your own best good.  See this flow as light and color and entering from the crown and moving down through the body releasing all stress and tension.

Meditation is about retraining the mind - the definition is....to think upon.  So set a peaceful scene from nature in your forehead.  Return to the scene when the mind wanders, and it will, til you can relax in your chosen scene.

Well thank you so much that is some great advice!!! I have only been doing guided meditation and i do have a hard time with it. I didnt know about the spirit still being a able to go around you depending on how you sit! Thank you for all your explanations Im doing my research on line and with very limited time and it is hard to sift through it all.
