The master continued, "If you put oil, pepper, garlic and onion in a cauldron, and merely add water, you have not made a stew. The basis for a stew is meat; the other ingredients are optional. Similarly, spiritual progress depends on detaching yourself from material posessions; other virtuous practices are optional."

- Nizam al-Din, "Fawa'id al-Fu'ad"

You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.

- Albert Camus

Healed of their sins and conflicts, working for the good of all beings, the holy sages attain nirvana in Brahman. Free from anger and selfish desire, unified in mind, those who follow the path of yoga realize the Self and are established forever in that supreme state.

- Bhagavad Gita 5:25-26

Find your center and stay there: it will allow you to live your life to its maximum.

- Barbara Ann Kipfer

Better indeed is knowledge than mechanical practice. Better than knowledge is meditation. But better still is surrender of attachment to results, because there follows immediate peace.

- Bhagavad Gita 12:12

Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves.

- Chief Seattle

Gabriel and Muhammad entered the heavens, and met a man who was watching human spirits go past. At some he said, 'A good spirit from a good body.' At others he said: 'An evil spirit from an evil body.' Muhammad asked who this man was. Gabriel answered: 'It is Adam, reviewing the spirits of his descendants.

- Ibn Ishaq, "The Life of Muhammad'

Knowledge or ignorance, Freedom or bondage, What are they? What is "I," Or "mine," Or "this"? Or the form of the true Self? I am always one. What do I care for freedom In life or in death, Or for my present karma?

- Ashtavakra Gita 20:3-4

All Muslims, pious or not, are bidden to listen to the recitation of the Qur'an. As God says, "When the Qur'an is recited, listen to it and be silent so that you might attain mercy."

- Al-Hujwiri, "The Kashf al-Mahjub"

sir and respected learned one, "What is, "pranams"?"

"Paranams" sounds like a word that we should all understand as an approach to the Divine, at least in some sense.

just love,

sunmystic

PS: A Moslem cleric said that one could not understand the Koran if they could not read Arabic. So I have never read the Koran because I can not read Arabic . I also can not read "Sanskrit."
