I don't know where to post this so sorry if this is the wrong forum.
What's the difference between fate and destiny? I've asked people this many times because I still can't see the difference. Some people said that there is no difference. It means the same things, but people just like to use different words for the same thing. Others have said that fate means we have no free will whereas destiny gives us free will.
If what the other people said is true, then for example we have to get to Point B from Point A and we have Route #1, 2, and 3. So, do you say that it is our destiny to get to Point B because we have 3 choices on how we get there? If so, suppose you chose Route #3, then couldn't you say that it could have been your fate to choose Route #3 to get to Point B?
Also, another question I have is could be fated or destined for something bad?
Thanks for your input!

My take on your post is: point a and point b are set in stone nothing you can do to change it example birth and death another example is a persons life path number nothing you can do can change it . this point is not debatable the are certain things that we cant change . so on to route 1 , 2 ,3 good verses bad, negative verses positive .this part of the journey is the best part.predictable yes and given certain factors becomes even good more predictable but not set in stone . And quote Dont let anyone tell you any different ..
as for the words fate and destiny it doesnt matter what you call it.. call it bread and butter if you want ...

Sorry you can not eliminate election or predestination!
6 Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: 7 Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called. 8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed. 9 For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sarah shall have a son. 10 And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac; 11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;) 12 It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger. 13 As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.
14 What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. 15 For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. 16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. 17 For the scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. 18 Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.
19 Thou wilt say then unto me, Why doth he yet find fault? For who hath resisted his will? 20 Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? 21 Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour? 22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: 23 And that he might make known the riches of his glory on the vessels of mercy, which he had afore prepared unto glory, 24 Even us, whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?

Fate and destiny are used by different people and their meanings seem to be dictated in whether you believe in god or not.
Fate does seem to be a state when external forces determine the final out come of a journey, situation etc. This may be against your expected outcome and is not influenced by you.
Destiny is predetermined by your actions and by other people actions around you. It could be said that if both your parents are doctors and their parents where doctors then you could be destined to become a doctor. You may even have decided that you wanted to become a doctor and started university with that expectation, but then fate might intervene and due to other circumstances you find that you are a civil engineer.
However if nothing happens and you finish med school and become a doctor then you have fufilled your destiny.
