In my research int o the metaphysical mysteries I have come across a fact that the Scorpio sign which was split from Libra and Virgo has had three animals attributed to it, Scorpion, Eagle and the Snake which are all symbols for the the esoteric knowledge which we are all on here seeking,
I find this quite astonishing as I have always been interested in the things most people believe are not real like, ghosts, alien life, bermuda triangle etc so it seems to fit the bill quite well plus I have owned the californian king snake, would like to take up falconry and own a scorpion.

yes, I have also come across the idea that there are three types of Scorpios - Scorpion, Eagle and the Snake. but got no concrete principles to categorize them. can someone enlighten us on this subject?

Hello my friends! I wasn't aware of the third totem being a snake...that was interesting.

I have learned the three totems are scorpion, phoenix rising from the ashes, and finally the soaring eagle. The scorpion is the first level of being and as we transform through life circumstances and become aware of the power within ourselves for transformation, we rise up from the ashes to fly as the phoenix. Then, as we continue on the path to higher enlightenment and understanding, as we get older, we become the soaring eagle. I feel through my life circumstances and awakenings of what life is trying to teach me and becoming more open to it all, I have risen through the ashes and transformed to the phoenix...this seems to happen a few times in life because as I reach a new difficulty in my life now, I am reborn and the old me is left in the ashes as I rise again...I haven't reached the eagle yet, no I think that I have lots of learning to do yet...but I am not as "scorpion" like as I used to be in my early life through early 30's. LOL

So... should that be four animal totems, then? Scorpion, snake, phoenix, and eagle?

I don't like spending much time looking back at the past, as it holds a lot of painful memories for me. However, as I'd done so a few days before, I realized that these memories didn't hurt so much now; in fact, they serve as reminders of my own abilities to withstand trials and emerge, as a phoenix, from the ashes of despair. I suppose I've passed the scorpion or snake stage, but I've yet to become an eagle.

I find it interesting, though, that the university I attended uses the eagle as a school symbol. Coincidence?
