Ehwaz:

Alternate Names: Eys, Ehol, Ior, Eoh, Eykur, Eh, Eol

Keywords: Duality, movement, partnership, interaction, harmony

This is the “horse” rune. It indicates change and relocation. It also refers to your means of conveyance or a trip. This may also mean restless and need to keep changing surroundings. Do not act in haste and take incorrect decisions.

Reversed or Merkstave:
You may be making false friends. Also there may be a break up in a relationship. You may feel restless and confined. Do not act in haste and think with a cool mind.

It can also mean the end of a cycle and regenerations, as Ehwaz represents a stave cut from a Yew Tree (taxus baccata). This is a magical double ended stave of Life and Death.

The Yew is the longest-lived of all European trees, and is green throughout the year, but it's bark, leaves, roots, fruit and resin are all extremely poisonous. Because of this numerologically, Eoh is 'unlucky thirteen'...

(Thirteen to me is not unlucky as I was born on the 13th, black friday to be exact...Mwahahaha...sorry I digress) but as it combines a remarkable longevity with toxicity, the Yew is also thought to be a tree of eternal life, possessing both the powers of Death and regeneration.

On occasion, older Yew trees which have partially died are regenerated by their own daughter trees which grow in their decaying interiors. Certain Yews have never-healing wounds. These are the 'bleeding Yews', from which red resin flows in an unceasing stream like blood.
(Nigel Pennick Rune Magic)

To me it is highly defensive rune, like the acient Death-bringers it wards off attack. It also means to me the end of a cycle and a rest period to regenerate, supported by family mainly children.

I guess that bit about the daughter trees helping to partially regenerate the old Yew from within. All children are good for that, giving you a spring in your step. Any corrections welcome and please add more if I have missed something.
