i was just thinking about it, runes are an ancient written language, so is Chinese for example. runes are symbols with meaning, so is chinese, and some old languages like hieroglyphics, pictoral written languages, etc...

is there a difference between them, i mean, runes supposedly have certain powers, how about the other languages and word/symbols from other cultures? are they similar in function?

like for example, if write on a pendant a rune for good health, is it the same as if write in chinese, greek, or other language on the pendant? if it is not the same, what's the difference?
