As long as there is money to be made from SEC and/or past life regressions they will exist.  Rational and/or intellectual thought and discourse would then take back seat to such ideas.  

How many workshops on a particular day can you find going on Twin Souls, twin Flames, Soul mates, Soul Groups, Soul essences... making money for the presenters?

These ideas are coined (in the 20th century) to bring new age into a different light.  Reincarnation, past lives have been around for ever so much longer in the religions and philosophies of the east.  And when discussing it you will find their ideas do not follow along with some of this new-fangled stuff.

Once you have met someone with whom you have had an intense past life experience with you will never doubt the existence
of past lives again. You don't need to spend countless hours disceting it, you just will know that it's true. It has happened
to me twice and both of those relationships have been life changing, and not for the better some might say. But part of my
destiny to meet with these two again I believe. In the end both of these people have really pushed me to reach a part of my
development I would have never gone to without them. I believe we make these agreements with other souls before we
reincarnate, maybe even something like, look if I haven't done such and such by this time in my life, would you please
come in and help me achieve this thing??  Just my 2 cents!

This has been a helpful instance for me when I saw a shaman. Maybe it might shed some light on all of this.

mystic:  Just suppose we reincarnate into soul groups.  What happens to those outside your own particular soul group?  Would you have time and lessons for someone not of your particular group?  O the ideas could go on and on.  Such limitations of who we learn from and deal with in this life!

Reason, Season, Lifetime

People  come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.  
When you know which one it is, you will know what to do  for that person.

When someone is in your life for a REASON,  it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.
They have  come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with  guidance and support,
to aid you physically, emotionally  or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are.  
They are there for the reason you need them to be.  

Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an  inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something to  bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die.  Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force  you to take a stand.
What we must realize is that our need  has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done.  
The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is  time to move on.

Some  people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has  come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experience  of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something  you have never done.
They usually give you an unbelievable  amount of joy.
Believe it, it is real. But only for a  season.

LIFETIME  relationships teach you lifetime lessons,
things you must  build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.  
Your job is to accept the lesson,
love the person and  put what you have learned to use in all other relationships  and areas of your life.
It is said that love is blind but  friendship is clairvoyant.

Eloquently said, and I do admire that. All I am saying is that it is my belief, and I can't proove or disproove it, nor do I care to,
is that we do incarnate with soul groups. I don't believe that everyone you have ever met is of this "soul group" but I do
believe that certain people who have had profound parts to play in our lives are. Just my belief and my faith. I believe it for
no other reason than the fact that if resonates with me, if not with someone else than that is perfectly fine.
Meaningful relationships with others can of course happen with other souls too. To me, the whole thing is like faith in God
or a higher power whatever you want to call it, you either believe it or not.

I had an experience with my child when he was born that was quite profound to me I'll share here with you. My son is now 11 years old,
the day he was born was a changing point in my life, having a baby changes many peoples lives, but this child was about to change
my average happy go lucky life in ways I never imagined or asked for. From the moment they laid that child in my arms and I looked
into his eyes, I knew I had known this soul before. I actually heard the words being spoken in my head "everything is fine now,
I'm here" And it was a very deeply moving moment, I have another child whom I love to death, but this did not happen when
I first held her so I found it unusual.

My son and I have always had a special bond from that day forward. More special than the
one I have with my other child, it has always been as though I understand him without him ever having to speak words to me.
Our souls understand each other.  And that is a very good thing, becuase this child could not speak to me in a "normal" way for
many years. I had to depend on this deeper understanding of him and  his needs that I have always seemed to possess.
He could not communicate in a normal way becuase it was later found out that this child had autism. He has been my biggest teacher
in this life. I don't know if it was the time, the season or the lifetime relationship that was being played out here according to
your post, but I know in my heart that I agreed to travel this journey with this child and that we will both gain the lessons
we are meant to from that journey. No one will ever be able to convince me that we did not know each other before, the bond
and knowing from the first moment we "met" was just too magical. And he was right in telling me all was okay now that he was
here. The things I have opened too and the joy I have experienced, along with the pain, have changed me into a person I would
have never been without him.
