Ty, read beyond the words, not just the Bible, but what others say and write?
My questions were meant for hippydude to ask himself as to why he follows blindly..without asking questions.
The Bible like all other books are up for interpretation. It does not mean there is no benefit or worth. It just means people should not follow blindly without asking truly in their hearts what is the truth. Interpretation has led to war upon war upon war, and continues today.
It has been written and rewritten many times over. It is a conglomeration of other books..some of which were left out..to suit those in "power". Stories have been changed many times over, ie the story of Mary Magdalen. Even today as new texts are found, books are left out...ie the Book of Judas which was recently translated and released through National Geographic. The same goes for other books as well, including the Torah, Bagavadghita and the Quaran. So to me it is just a book. It may act as guidance for some, but it also acts as misguidance for others.

If you have so many questions about the Bible, Sidewalk, you should read more about it's history before just calling it a book. When I have questions about something I research it fully. You won't be disappointed.
Perhaps it would help all the bible punchers if they realized that it was written in Greek.
Greek being the literary language of the times given that most of people who wrote were slaves and spoke Greek (they were bought to write and keep records as very few people could write) , it was translated many times and in many differing versions, arguements raged over who had written the 'truth' and Jesus was not even acknowledged as divine until the 4th C.
What these people take as the written word of god - isn't, what they take as one coherent whole - isn't.
It is a bunch of Jewish creation myths, records of descent (which were vital to them) and then some arguable texts written years after the life and death of someone of whom there is no historical record!

You are absolutely right sidewalk. Many, many "books" of the bible were intentionally left out because it did not represent what the church wanted people to believe and learn at the time.
The Bible is a great "book" and its very interesting, but I don't necessarily believe its the TRUE word of God. Too many mortals were involved in its inception. Man is not perfect and man put the Bible together.
