what I "see" during Reiki sessions are primarily colors around areas that need attention.  I've "seen" cords, knots, wavy globs that look like heat coming off a sidewalk, or steam from a boiling pot.  Seems to change depending on the session itself.
Crossing arms and legs, folding in (I would think) help ground mostly because the position is blocking (in a sense) a free flow of the energy cycles.  Try brushing your hands together, like sweeping of crumbs.  That too helps break any connection.

oh. and I find onyx a good stone to keep around my house for grounding.

What I see is the wavy globs you described mostly outside in nature. A lot in back of my house...i guess I go there often tho. Seems to move with the wind kind of sometimes, then swirl around, up or down. I see it more easily after doing yoga or a radix session. I just met a woman who does reiki and she offered a complementary session since I'd never had the experience. So I'm looking forward to that. Thanks for the info. I'll let you know how the reiki goes.

I have the same "electric" feeling, except sometimes it comes together with very sensitive, almost sore skin.  I've also recieved messages of grounding, and I use 4 amethyst points around my bed to ground me while I sleep.  It seems to work...
