I have done reiki 1, but a few days ago I received a session from someone who has done the 3 levels. I had a headache and had been dealing with some emotional issues, but I was hoping to have a good night sleep after the session. But instead I had a horrible dream, with a lot of violence, where I was shot (but didn't die) and then I had to shoot someone to be able to escape.
I know that dream can have a thousand meanings, but I was wondering if it could have anything to do with the reiki. Because I never have nightmares or bad dreams, although I've been having very vivid dreams for some time.
I hope someone can shed some light on this. Thanks in advance.

Hi, Sorry to hear about your bad dream, I wonder if it was related at all to your emotional issues?

Usually having a reiki session from a level 3 would be better and gentler and less likely to cause any after effects than from a level 1 or 2, so I do wonder if these two are connected at all? Make sure that you always drink a lot of water after a treatment and also that you are allowed to give feedback to the reiki practitioner, have you rung them and ask them what they think? They may know the answer

Hi Gem. Thanks for taking the time to reply and for caring.

I do think it was related to my issues, that's why I thought that maybe the reiki session, somehow, cleared the way for all those things to be "processed" during my sleep. And even though it was a bad dream, I didn't wake up scared or sweating, I just woke up and then couldn't go back to sleep. And the dream stayed very vivid in my mind.
But I'm not really interested in an interpretation either.

I hope to see the practitioner this week. I didn't really go for a session with her. I go to this group every Tuesday evening and we give reiki to people that pay a small fee for a 30min session. We don't charge anything, it is just to cover expenses. And I usually work with someone with more experience. Besides, all the clients know that some of us are only starting to practice (I'm hoping to do second level in early December).
So, when there aren't many clients, we give reiki to each other, and last Tuesday I said I'd like to receive a session and this lady very kindly said she wanted to work on me, and that's when it happened. I don't know if she felt something. If I see her this week I will ask her.
Thanks again.

In case anyone's still interested... I didn't see the practitioner that gave me the session last week, but I had the chance to talk a little with one of the teachers.
He said that the practice of reiki (and maybe that night the session I received) triggers a process of purification, and that dreams can be a part of that. That sometimes they mean something to us and sometimes they don't, but not to worry (I wasn't worried, just curious). That in most cases, it is about releasing things from this life and maybe even from previous lives.
So, even though I had a bad dream, I suppose it's good that now it's gone.

Hi  Muchacha

I can relate to your dreams issue Muchacha. I was attuned for Reiki level I about three weeks ago and I am still having some  vivid dreams. When I say vivid, they are clear; not horrible or scary, but the faces I see are clear, and they seem to go on almost like a full-feature film.

After the attunement, we have now started a hands-on training within the class and we all treat each other briefly every week and I treat myself as well.

So, I do relate with your dream experience and I was told it was due to the opening up of the chakras.
