There are two views of the persons. Some people are saying that reiki is real and it actually helps to cure the certain diseases but others are saying reiki is only a person's state of mind and it actually does not cure a person. What is true? Any one who has been really benefitted by reiki, please share your experience.

My friend has colon cancer and his wife is a reiki healer (and a very good one).
I have colon cancer and went for the operation (successfully), he is dying I'm cured, you tell me which works. Brutal but true.
Perhaps if she had used reiki in conjuntion with traditional medical techniques he would not have the pain and discomfort I have but only a reiki person could say.

I like to think of reiki as a complimentary therapy not an alternative one. I know many people who do not trust doctors and who will not have traditional options of surgery and chemo etc, and that is there perrogative.

I thiink it is unfair though to take such emotional examples and say that reiki doesnt work, or that operations do.

Reiki can help in many ways, though sadly it really can depend on the person giving the reiki session.

No I'm not saying that reiki doesn't work if it is part of a combined medical plan. I have no doubts that as part of the paliative care plan it works very well - I use an aromatherapy healer as part of mine and she really helps but as a replacement for proven surgical techniques - no.

As someone who is new to Reiki,but not to spiritual issues in general.  I know Reiki is real.  This is how i know, I have only recieved my first attunement to level one last week (with the other three still to come) For the second time in a week  a tiny mouse has showed me.  live in the mountains and have three cats, so I routinely get mice brought as gifts ( dead and alive) the live ones I usally catch and release them outside, to most people that catch mice you would know that do not like to be stuck and climb and crawl trying to get free from your grasp, Usally by the time i get outside they are quite eager to jump and run to safety.

Well this morning, my cat brought me a very alive mouse, I managed to catch him with my bare hands, He was about to start clawing to get out, but he stopped on my palm, he olbviosly like what was flowing through my hands.  he stayed in my hands for ten minutes as if he were a pet, he was calm, and when he showed signs of wanting to get out, I place him down and he was slow to leave my hands before hurrying off to safety.  I know there is something coming through  my hands.

I do not know whether he lived or died, and that isn't my choice.  My understanding is that it is up to the person receiving Reiki that gets to decide what to do with it.  To Prof Akers friend, perhaps his soul thinks it could be more help from the other side.   To some people death is a freedom, and their souls long for it.  Reiki can only help a person as much as that person is willing to accept.  Just because you accept it consiosly, unconsiously you may not.
