When Reiki feels uncomfortable

Hi Friends,

My husband has emphysema and a congenital heart defect. I had placed my hand on his chest in the heart area. I did not treat any other part of the body. I don't usually feel anything when Reiki is coming through. In about 10 minutes or so, my husband said that my hand had become so hot that he needed me to remove it, which I promptly did.

Why would Reiki become so hot that the client can not take it? Is it like a timer? The part of the body gets too hot so it's time to stop or move to another part of the body? Why wouldn't I feel that so I could move my hand accordingly?

One way I was taught was to stay on the part of the body as long as one could feel the Reiki coming through. That does not work for me anymore since I do not feel Reiki coming through most of the time. I've also read that Reiki can bring on more pain (could be heat also) or some uncomfortable feeling for a short while but then the pain or uncomfortable feeling subsides, if not disappears, as if this is part of a bigger healing process. If this is true, I wonder if the client, in these cases, cuts off the bigger healing process.
Of course, that would be all up to them.

Also, if Reiki is uncomfortable in a short amount of time, did the energy help in healing at all? My husband still feels about the same. I don't think a 40 year old problem was healed in 10 minutes, nor would I expect it to be so generally.

I'd love to hear your experiences and/or comments on this?

Dear Blini,

The heat that he felt is just the Reiki working to heal the problem. Long after you remove your hand from someone your working on, people will feel the heat. Reiki knows where to go. I think that he just felt uncomfortable that he felt the heat in the first place. Experiences like that for the first time can scare people. It scared me at first. I lay hands on the spots for five or ten minutes, and then move to the next place. Healing sometimes takes a while. Sometimes it happens fast. Just keep doing the treatments if he allows it, and he will be more comfortable with it soon.

Even I felt the same when I did hands on Reiki to people. When they felt very hot, I just moved from there and went to next postiion or somewhere close. Once the receiver felt uneasy and had a slight headaceh for a minute or so and she was alright and felt much better later.

In one case a receiver of mine felt uneasy and her BP shot up when I did remote Reiki, she felt good afterwards, dose anyone know why it happens?

If it feels really uncomfortable, move your hands to another position. Anyway, the feeling uncomfortable may be due to the "untying" the knot, or dissoving the energy blockage that caused the problem in the first place. So, not a bad sign.... just keep record of it. After a few sessions you'll like to go over your notes to see what improvement there has been since you started working on that person.
