What is reiki?  

Is it just a word like prana, or ki, or chi, or qi, or sekhem but from a different culture? The Japanese word for energy of life, universal energy, life force?

Is it only accessible via attunements or can anyone channel reiki?

Can anyone master reiki? Or does reiki master us?

To me it is just a word, one of many ways, and one of many understandings.

I believe anyone can channel energy regardless of attunements or not. Afterall surely the chicken could lay an egg before it knew an egg could hatch?...or something like that. Surely there was reiki before someone gave it a name?

Who is to say anyone is the master of anything? A should know all, but no one knows all? Perhaps no one and no thing masters no one and no thing; living as one entity, through which energy flows. Ah nevermind. lol.

It is a word, which has also developed into a "brand name" for a diversity of related energy healing systems. But in itself, it is the universal energy which permeates all and every living being in all realms.

I believe that anyone can channel reiki, even if not knowing the word itself or the symbols or the particular form of using the hands.

The attunements and symbols are various means to focus more precisely on the intent, allowing us to open un and become more conscious about the energies and their flow, but in the end it is the pure and sincere intent which brings it out and towards the recipient.

I think it's sort of a teamwork ... undoubtedly it would be difficult to master reiki if we are unable to master our own emotions and energies... but at the same time there is a subtle and intelligent connection between every living being which "knows" where and how to work when the moment is appropriate. The keyword here would be "openness" from both the one who is "giving" (acting as a channel for energies) and from the receiver, because if there isn't such openness in the receiving end, not much can be done. You can't enforce the healing processes onto someone who is not in disposition to accept his/her own power to self-heal.

what else could reiki be, but the universal flow of love from the creator,whatever we may call it, god, goddess, the source.

anyone can use reiki without attunements,, but their ability is hampered by a clogged up crown center,and hand chakras which get cleared in the attunement.

the symbols in themselves have no power but for the intention.
and the focusing  on the symbols help keep our ego out of it so the universal love can flow through us.

some claim it flows through us without love focusing and that is true,, but focusing on love resonance can amplify the process three fold if not tenfold.

we will never master reiki,, it is up to the  person if the rieki will master them aka they give up all ego, all indentity..
but i do not believe that is reiki purpose..
so the process is unification of the person with the universal love flow so it can  heal the reiki master (which simply means the ability to give reiki and to pass attunements )  as well as the reiki reciever.

a belief that we used to send healing energy is now that we are resonating healing energy as we recieve it for ourselves first is not becoming prevelent in circles
