I meant a smoker will have nicotine in their bloodstream, even if their last cigarette was 6 hours before giving the reiki. I know the woman who attuned me is a smoker. She is also very good at reiki and I have never felt such heat or energy emanating from someone.
I am not saying you should give reiki while drunk but wondered if it mattered if you had alcohol (even a tiny bit) in your bloodstream when giving a treatment. |
It depends on the person. Cigarettes are different from tobacco grown naturally by tribal people. They have hundreds of chemicals and other artificially made substances. I stopped smoking tailor mades and started rolling my own. Everytime I have a tailor made cigarette it tastes revolting and I can feel and taste the chemicals in it. alcohol is the same Top shelf or pure spirits can bring enlightenment to some. cheap crap can bring the opposite effect. Some people can drink and be happy and others can drink and become miserable and depressed. I know I hated smoking when I was little, it made me feel sick and the air was unclean. So called friends offered me a cigarette when I was 13 and I stupidly tried it. When I went home my parents smoking didn't irritate me anymore. I couldn't smell the room the same as before and used this as my excuse to smoke and tell myself it was Ok to do it. I still feel the same way on this level but unfortunately it is an addiction and my brain has become reprogrammed to accept it. My Grandfather, uncle and my Dad all smoked inside at Grandma and Grandpas house the only room with smoke smell was the eating area in the kitchen. As soon as we walked into the kitchen or through the doors to the other rooms the air was pure and clean. I never got to ask Gran what she did but she was as spiritual as me. I do know she had a huge amethyst cluster, like a cave(Gem You might understand what I'm saying) about a foot tall in her lounge room. Anyway if you feel comfortable with this person and their Reiki is working for you, the room is clear of any smoke and you feel positive then there shouldn't be any problem. I thought you were talking about yourself. I have done Reiki when I had been drinking and it worked tremendously (mine were actually head massages) and my friends loved it. Since then I have stopped drinking. I still have to give up smoking though. That is my personal dilemma.
As long as you feel comfortable and the Reiki is working then there should be no problems.

I think a lot of it is mind over matter too. If I quit smoking, the withdrawal effects would probably affect my reiki more negatively (in the short term, anyway) than the actual nicotine. Obviously I would never smoke while giving a session! I think sometimes alcohol can relax you, "open doors" and make you more receptive to spiritual happenings. Obviously, too much might make you sense or see things that are not there! I tried smoking pot when I was younger and saw animals everywhere. I hate the stuff and do not take drugs now, it was just an experiment, but I think balance is vital.

My two cents ...
Reiki is a healing energy and generally felt as heat and vibration (in consonance with the almost universal sense of heat and vibration and energetic presence felt by recipients and the role of mars that I have observed in my astrological research on reiki healers), it definitely exists or makes itself felt in two realms, physical and spiritual.
Unless you are in the *same* state, most people will not be comfortable being healed by a disoriented and uncoordinated *healer* with spirits (the wrong kinds!) on his or her breath! They would be equally concerned if just before they went under anaesthesia they saw the approaching surgeon break into a song or approaching them in a zig-zag manner (can't walk along a straight line!).
Regardless of efficacy or how these 'chemically' altered states ill-affect or improve the reiki healing! It sounds like common sense!!
Does it not to you all?
