My deux cents!
Once we stop asking others if we did the right thing, we stop! Observing begins!!
Most of us go back again to living our lives and asking others how we did.
Some take that moment when we paused seriously -- and turn elsewhere.
A fewer of those 'some' turn inwards, even those that still participate out there ...!
Though often found outside, the energetic reality illuminates the inside of the room!
It is like the switch, that triggers the experience that lies near the entrance and outer wall of the room that we wish to enter. Once the switch is found (attunement) we may enter and find the entire room illuminated for our benefit.
The switch is as important as the light bulb that it turns on and which then illuminates the room or our LIFE. The goal is about being able to SEE better and clearly!

[quote="mysticangel"]Gem,
Nothing that was out of the ordinary or havn't gone through before in my life. I was at the end of a relationship that lasted no more than 6 or 7 months, nothing to rave about or form any type of lifelong attachments.
I have been told by several that I have always had my gifts, in fact I have always had them for many lives of my past. (for which I know that I have had 8 others) I know that there are those out there that does not believe in reincarnation, but I have had too many interactions with viewing them that I cannot not believe that it is in fact real and true that our soul's do return in different lifetimes.
I used to question the how, what, where, when about it all and have long ago given up finding those answers that may not make itself known to me now or if ever and it will remain a mystery forever.
I used to frantically try to learn everything and anything about it and get really frustrated when I come against brick and many times steel walls. So one day, I quit searching for answers and started focusing more on nurturing it to fruition and try to make it stronger and stronger for the good of all mankind..I don't know how high it will escalate for me, but always do I take myself beyond humanly possible to test myself and a way for me to gauge myself and hone in on my gifts, for if we don't, we would never know how high we are capable of otherwise. In the past, I had to perfect it. If people really knew how hard I push myself past the limits as much as possible, they would think or say that I am addicted to my abilities. My answer to that would be, yes I am surely that...Before it was the only thing that brought me comfort, now....it is my companion. I came to terms long ago to enjoy it for it was given to me or surfaced for a reason.
I am glad that I don't stress over learning about it anymore and just enjoy myself and to my surprise, it helped me become that stronger ability that I searched so long and hard for and could never find all on its own.....
So I guess that supports that, when we search far and wide, near or far for the very things we want yet never find.....
then one day...
We realized that we have the very things we desperately try to get before is ours now and we didn't realized when we had obtained it....
That is because when we stopped trying so hard, that is when the very thing we want comes to us....it's when we don't care one way or the other that we notice we have it....LOL!!

I wonder if the attunement is the light switch or just the knowledge?
I have worked with many people that were in no need of attunement, they do not have the barriers of dogma that some stricter reiki-taught adults suffer from, they just 'do' and can access reiki.

Reason for editing: I realized after posting that perhaps being new to this message topic/healing area, I should have first introduced myself for some who may have joined after I did and this board is fairly big 9K+ and so one may wonder who is the person who is posting and what their background is, experience is etc. And age does not often help because I have seen many children who would put 80 year olds to shame by their crystal clear words and understanding and without doubt we have many more older individuals who may not quite be on the money, if you catch my drift! So -- age alone is merely a distractor.
That said, I am truthfully 50+ and 60- and in less than a decade I will be happy to update that to 60+ but 70-!
I am privileged and honoured and blessed to have received a wealth of experience in matters that are scientific, logical, spiritual, and in the general field of healing -- through many modalities! Didactic and experiential!
After being attuned to physical modes of healing and then to spiritual modalities such as Reiki (several levels) I had the great opportunity to meet many healers and to really enter their realms of experience and their inner thoughts and that then led to my exploration of astrological research into spiritual healing, with Reiki as the primary portal (and not pothole as I have sometimes called some self-resplendant (full of themselves) Portals!).
During my explorations of spiritual healers, their lives and the words they live by -- I rediscovered an already known truth! Whatever human beings touch, they make the thing come alive, they make it human and they bring it down to EARTH! Only God's certified Angels had that power and permission, I thought! Go figure!! But before that -- look around and make sure that I am telling you the truth that you can directly experience, affirm/confirm and accept!
Some questions still remain unanswered (that is why I am here on this earthly realm I suppose) but many tend to be affirmations. I do not see that as indications that I am psychic and already knew but as indications that were presented to me earlier, perhaps many times, but I was not certain of, until the moment of affirmation -- also known in some circles as attunement!
It is similar to Shaktipat -- a direct transfer, nearly magical, from a teacher to a student often just by a physical touch, a brush in passing and nothing elaborate or a dragon breath using a hollow bamboo reed or so on! The less dramatic it is, the more convincing and permanent it must be!
Shaktipat to me has always been like the conferring of a degree, the convocation, with all its magical pomp and show! A magical moment commemorating what the acolyte has painstakingly learned already perhaps over lifetimes. It is like a birthday that in a few brief celebratory moments commemorates and rewards for the toil and learnings of 365.25 days, which were lived and sometimes endured, moment-by-moment!
But enough about me, already ...
Rohiniranjan

To which I reply: Attunement is the process of connecting the superficial awareness (I) with what is already there, a past connection with the healing modality.
In fact there is only ONE healing modality. But human brains being what they are we choose to view it as different modalities. Not surprising given that we cannot even view the one and only God as such and had to create different religions that dissected God into different forms and packages!

Funny then that Usui would call the 'attunement's 'empowerments'?..
I disagree that there is only one healing modality, perhaps there is an argument for one 'source' but there are many different forms of the energy, different vibrations and different energy patterns.
Have you studied any other 'modalities' and seen the differences in the energies? And if so... which?

Absolutely! It is empowerment to regain the 'confidence' in taking ownership of and responsibility to discharge the healing capability that was already (if not always!) there!
It is like a child who has a huge inheritence that he can only have when he grows up to be 21, for instance. He 'had' the riches when he was 16, 18, 20, but only after 21, the moment of attunement/empowerment can he dip into the inheritence and spend it, hopefully for good :-)
Advanced souls like Master Usui need to be meditated upon and understood from within and not mechanically as is rampant in some psychic healing mindsets, who tend sometimes to cling to words and rather concretely! Great minds like Usui and Indian Sages often used concrete terms (what else is there to use) to bring to our understanding ABSTRACT REALITY. It would be a shamefully sad waste of time if we never go beyond their literal words, don't you agree ;-)
As to personal experience, I know how those discussions tend to go, so let us refrain from playing those games. And if you are not playing those, then obviously I misunderstood you and stand corrected ;-)
Perception of a given healing energy in different ways is not something new. Even without having to get into a plethora of some of the modern energy-healing modalities, many of which smack suspiciously of 'neologisms' (no reference to that term in its clinico-psychological implications, in case someone decides to take the thread of discussion in that direction...!) -- it is quite obvious that even within a single modality, perceptions and interpretations will vary. Even in Reiki (which I presume you would call ONE healing modality/energy) there are many different nuances. Now either all of these are not reiki or they are one but interpreted by different sub-schools differently!
To take a physical psychosomatic model, we all have different abilities in our sensory perceptions. Some are better seers, others hear more discriminatively, some have very developed sense of smell (maybe not quite as developed as a dog, but amongst humans!) and some are simply stated accomplished touchers ;-)
So I am not surprised that different channels (that is where our common thread lies!) perceive a given modality as different perceptions.
I realize that more individuals, who give too much empowerment to perceptions -- the perceptions begin to define the reality, and hence we come up with and convince ourselves and others that there are all these different healing modalities and even begin to get competitive about it as in Reiki is better than QiGong or Pranic healing is the highest or Karuna reiki is even higher and this childish brawl keeps going on and on, ad nauseum.
Regards,
Rohiniranjan
