Why did the book by David Ashworth freak you out about healing? Did you decide in the end to get attuned into Reiki?

Hi dreamfairy,

No i didnt get myself attuned. Maybe when im more ready...at the mean time i dont  think i can accept the responsibility that comes with it, as once your attuned your attuned for life.

The book freaked me out cos it tells you that about  negative entities and psychic attack.  The book describes
"Most of us are born as a 60 watt light bulb and we give off a nice calm 60 watts of energy from our inner core, spreading out nicely into our aura, keeping us vibrant and protected. while the aura is whole and maintains in intergrity we go through life without much  of a problem, but should the aura get damaged , we begin to leak out energy out into our surroudings, not only into our world, but into other dimensions of light.Our defences become breached.  

As this entity has most likely drained a certain amount of energy from its current host, your energy will be shining much brighter than they are. before you know it, the entity has jumped into your energy system.

Once your attuned your no longer shining like the 60 watt light bulb but 250 watt light bulb.

I have a big problem with negative entity as i used to see them alot. Not with my mind but with my own eyes. Its not very plesent. and my g/grndfthr did something i don see them anymore but i see feel them.  Its only a matter of time before i start seeing them again. So the idea of attracting them is not exectly appealing. I have so much choas right now...ill be emotionally unbalance.

I only read half of the book and already freaked out. At least this book is honest and it really tells you in detail about working with energy not just the positive side but the negative side of it too.

I'm sad that the book freaked you out, thats a shame, but I can understand why. I have worked with energies all my life, it was part of me as a small child and in my first memories. My personal views are that although David Ashworth seems to err on the side of caution when it comes to reiki, when what is needed to overcome the pitfalls and dangers is a true and confident mentor that has experience and knowledge of using reiki, and seeing it being used, over a long period of time in many situations and on many illnesses and people. With a trusted mentor teaching and watching over you, whilst you practise and open to the new energies, you will be protected and no harm will come to you. Your mentor should guide you through the different levels and the different lifestyle of reiki so that you fully understand how to cope with the darkness that always tries to block the light. Reiki does attract negativity. Many want to smother the light that shines. Many are jealous and work to undermine confidence and ability. Many will try and attack and scare those that use it. That is why becoming a reiki Master used to be a lifelong goal, to work through the tests and trials and come out the other side stronger and truly learn the ways of reiki. Now, sadly, many are attuned in one go and proclaim to be 'reiki masters' almost overnight.  Not everyone can be a reiki master or master reiki, even with careful tuition and certainly not in a short space of time.

I agree that there does seem to be a lot of people that  are becoming Reiki Masters and not even thinking about the responsibility that comes with teaching others and guiding them through all the stages, and making students aware of the dangers as well as the positive energies with Reiki healing or any other healing system.  I would like to read this book and will comment about what I think at a later date.
