How strange. I never noticed this part of the forum before although I have been to mystic board 2 or 3 times.

All my life I have used reiki without knowing it, by placing my hands on myself or others (or hands in the aura near the body) and feeling a lot of heat and good feelings come out. I used this on my boyfriend when he had a headache or an ache or pain and he loved the results, the tingling and vanishing of any pain. My grandmother also did this but called it faith healing rather than reiki. (Same thing, no?)

Then I booked a past life reading at a nearby new age shop and it just wasn´t happening because there was a lot of noise and I couldn´t relax. I had a chat with the woman about healing instead and she said I could have an induction in reiki instead of the past life reading so I booked that for the following week.

I went along and she said that since I already appear to be using it she would do the 2nd stage of attunement but she kept saying the word 'emotional' when she was trying to say something else and said she had the impression that I wasn´t quite ready for the 2nd stage and we should do the 1st. She said I would get emotional. I already knew I would - I even cry when having a massage! (Cellular memory?) So she gave me a full reiki treatment (my first ever) whilst attuning me. I came out of there feeling good and energised and a bit 'floaty' but the next day - OH MY GOD! I wasn´t expecting it. I have never been so sick in my life!! Vomiting, nausea, the worse headache ever and I must have drunk about 4 liters of water!!!! Everyone where I work thought I had a hangover. This continued for a couple of days (the bad stuff) and I kept knocking back the water!! I phoned the center and they sent me some reiki and afterwards I felt better.

I wasn´t expecting the side effects (not that badly anyway!) so that was proof that something had changed and my body was adjusting. I use reiki now but if I feel low, have had alcohol, or am tired, it won´t flow.

I don´t use it as much as I should but I love it. I want to do levels 2 and 3 but it is expensive here and I am unsure whether that is what I should spend my money on. Plus I don´t want worse side effects for higher levels!

My cats like reiki but, strangely, our neighbor´s dog hates it!



I´d like to hear anyone else´s experience or any comments on my own.

I must comment that you had a very unusual reaction to the reki. Some people teach that there is a 21 day cleansing period during which your body is supposed to adjust and this can make you feel unwell, however your symptoms sound more like food poisoning! you poor thing. If you feel that the reiki attunement did this to you no wonder you are a bit anxious about taking it further?  Personally I don't think the two were connected, reiki so rarely makes anyone feel anywhere near that bad, and if it does it usually has a severe emotional base or a karmic one and I don't get the feeling that is you?

There are many places that will attune you freely, and many places online that will also help you with reiki and attune freely from a distance, why not pursue that avenue? It depends really on what you are seeking? It can be great to learn in a group workshop but sometimes its even better at home feeling relaxed and with a master that you respect and trust and take lessons online

I do think the reaction was from the reiki. Throughout the induction itself I was almost overwhelmingly emotional and for a week after I was throwing gallons of water down my neck. I ruled out food poisoning at the time because I ate the same as my boyfriend and also it wasn´t just my stomach in trouble (happens when I get over emotional too), but my head was splitting and my senses were heightened. I felt kind of delirious and everyone I tested the reiki on said it was really strong and were nervous of it! Seems to have calmed down now.

I didn´t realise it was possible to get attuned free or from a distance. It is really expensive here! I have a reiki book here (Reiki for Life by Penelope Quest) and it says reiki is usually expensive so people value it. I feel ready for part 2 anyway so I will look into the avenues you suggest.

I don't like that argument

Some of my most valued possessions were gifts to me, or things I found on the beach or in the woods, so to me money doesnt't equate to value.

I think perhaps if you discussed this with any reiki master that doesn't charge they might have a different view lol, but you have to go with what you feel is right. Many accept a donation or gift to charity....
