Should I take my old landlord to court?

Just wondering if I would get bad karma for taking my landlord to court.
Ok so my security deposit was 1/3 of $1000 because I had two roommates.
I didn’t get my security deposit back within 45 days from the date of moving out – and so I can take him to court for 3 times the amount of the deposit, which I filed the papers for asking for $1000.
Last night I got a check from him for $475 and a letter - in the letter he deducted $300 for late fees over the years and I know I have paid all my late fees.
He also deducted $250 for clean up of the house because I moved out before my roommates and they left the house a mess. I told my landlord that my roommates things were still in the house and I asked what I should do. If it was an issue he should have called me back and not waited till the next day to see the house a mess left by my roommates. I would have went back to clean up the mess and throw his things away.
So my guess is that he doesn’t want to go to court and decided to settle. But he is wrong for deducting late fees when I have always paid them.
Given that I got a check for greater then what I actually paid for the security deposit (even though he was late) should I take him to court for the rest?
Do you think I would get the rest?
Or would I get less?
Would I get back karma for still taking him to court?
Or should I send the check back and tell him that I have bank statements proving that I paid my late fees and that he must be mistaken for my roommates being late.
What do you think I should do?
Thanks.

Since you are the one who must pay the fee, and if you loose, the Landlords fee, and maybe the fee for the court, I think you should evaluate this on your own...I am sure your karma will not be better or worse whatever you choose

My answer must not be seen as reading, and if anyone feel they have something to say, for advice...please do so

This is sounding like a Judge Judy episode...

You have so many conditional questions for a reading - "should I", "should I not", "would I", "would he", "what if this" and "what if that", "Will it, will it not"...... that the majority of readers would be put off by the sheer number of these conditional questions. I cannot speak for all of them, I hasten to add.

Instead of asking us, your question sounds more of a legal nature or one of your own inner conscience. Don't you have a Citizen's Advice Office in your country where you could be given impartial advice within the boundaries of the law rather than going and complicating matters with karma and what not?

You want a kick on your backside too?  Karma or no karma, what is your conscience, your inner guide telling you? Ask your own self within; do you feel you will be serving good karma or bad karma?  I mean, why do you want to jump the gun and immediately go down the route of the courts? Are you so eager to waste your money? And if you won, how much are we talking about? A couple of hundred Dollars?

Our opinion is somewhat irrelevant and I do not believe in my heart this is a matter for a reading.

Let me ask you: What do you think you should do? I really would like to hear your opinion on this.

Not a question for us....you need an Aladdin's lamp....If anyone was able to tell the outcome of this.....then the outcome of any case could be told..and the legal system would have been saved for billions...we could just have given the answer.

The question is if you would appreciate it if you was standing trail, and your verdict should be given by a psychic, Tarot or Astrology Reader.
