This is sounding like a Judge Judy episode...
You have so many conditional questions for a reading - "should I", "should I not", "would I", "would he", "what if this" and "what if that", "Will it, will it not"...... that the majority of readers would be put off by the sheer number of these conditional questions. I cannot speak for all of them, I hasten to add.
Instead of asking us, your question sounds more of a legal nature or one of your own inner conscience. Don't you have a Citizen's Advice Office in your country where you could be given impartial advice within the boundaries of the law rather than going and complicating matters with karma and what not?

| Given that I got a check for greater then what I actually paid for the security deposit (even though he was late) should I take him to court for the rest? |
You want a kick on your backside too? Karma or no karma, what is your conscience, your inner guide telling you? Ask your own self within; do you feel you will be serving good karma or bad karma? I mean, why do you want to jump the gun and immediately go down the route of the courts? Are you so eager to waste your money? And if you won, how much are we talking about? A couple of hundred Dollars?
Our opinion is somewhat irrelevant and I do not believe in my heart this is a matter for a reading.
Let me ask you: What do you think you should do? I really would like to hear your opinion on this.
