I am not trying to treat this subject lightly or to be cruel to you by unnecessarily worrying you more than you already are about where your kitten might possibly be, but over here in Australia recently we had a case where the kitten had somehow crawled into and had become tightly wedged in the U - bend in the toilet bowl. This unfortunate incident (the kitten was finally rescued and was perfectly OK) immediately came to my mind when I read your posting.
Also I drew a Tarot card called The Moon to help me to get a clearer impression as to where kitty is most likely to be, and it features in the foreground of the picture a lobster partially submerged in a small body of water.
The Moon often represents intuition or psychic abilities.
With the mewing sound coming from around the bathroom (or adjacent to it) containing a small body of water but strangely distant with no obvious response when you call to the kitten plus the sanitary plumbing appearing in my inner field of vision, I began to wonder to myself...................what if........?
I really hope for both your own and the kitten's sake that I am completely wrong about this, but look carefully before you flush, just in case I am not.
Even if I am right, I feel that he will live in spite of his current predicament.
