I do not know if you are familiar with this card, but on the face of it (Rider - Waite pack) is a lion and a fair maiden dressed in white (the colour of purity, innocence and spiritual clarity) who is holding the jaws of the beast open with her bare hands, with no outward signs of fear. What this particular card says to me is that when it comes to a conflict between intelligence and inner strength and sheer brute, physical force intelligence and inner strength will almost invariably be victorious in the end. Avoid bringing yourself down to their lower level tactics, as if you fight fire with more fire than you are more than likely not only to get your fingers badly burnt, but you have your own self dignity to preserve at all costs.
Do not go out looking for a fight or trouble, as trouble has it's own ways of finding us, usually when we are feeling unusually low and at our most vulnerable. Not surprisingly with the name of this card it is thought to be sent to give you both added courage and greater strength in the future, including under adverse circumstances of which there is rarely a shortage in most people's lives. Don't throw in the towel just yet. Thinking more about this don't be willing to throw in the towel and give up, until all options have been fully explored and you have done everything you feel you can to make it work. This point is where faith in yourself and in the Universe that your life is unfolding exactly as it should so often comes to your rescue at the 11th hour.
