I've never had any kind of psychic reading (although a "gypsy" in Coney Island or somewhere once told me that I'd have 10 or so children--so I've only got 9 to go, at the ripe old age of 46...shouldn't be a problem But the past year has been amazing and full of upheaval (good and sometimes not-so-good) in my spiritual and "regular" life, and I feel that I'm at a crossroads with no clue where to go next. So I guess I'm just asking for a general reading, and would be interested in hearing anything that comes up rather than asking a specific question.
My b'day is 8/29/61; I'd prefer not to post my "real" name, but Doe is a name that I identify with for a number of reasons.
Thank you!

You know what? I forgot to say, "Please" (totally not like me!). I apologize for that! I think I got so caught up in trying to figure out what I was trying to ask about that I just forgot...

Welcome Doe,
I am afraid that I can neither confirm or otherwise the Coney Island gypsy's predictions concerning your ten children, but honestly I feel that the number was drawn out of her turban, and I sincerely hope for the sake of your health and sanity that you do not still have nine children to go at the age of 46. Perhaps she thought that having ten children would be regarded as good news and almost assure your return business?
Unlike gypsy fortune tellers who appear like to make dramatic predictions, the main purpose of my readings as I see it are to first determine your particular personality strengths and weaknesses (we all have both of these), then use these insights to better prepare you for whatever the future holds in store for you. As your future is being constantly created and reshaped by the conscious decisions you make in the present moment, there is of yet no one future to predict. There is instead a range of possibilities, and some psychics do seem to possess a special gift in being able to choose the one which is most likely, that is if nothing changes in the mean time (which it usually does). Unfortunately for you I am not one of these readers to whom making predictions is thought to be of most importance, although I have had some successes (few and far between).
You are absolutely correct about you currently being at a crossroads in your life, but the really good news is that you are not expected to make up your mind which path to take, without also at the same time receiving whatever help you require from friends both seen and unseen (amongst the living, as well as those in Spirit). Do not try to artificially separate your spiritual beliefs from your regular everyday life, as I believe that this will only lead to much unhappiness within yourself and will also not make you good company to have around. Rather than doing this, your spirituality or spiritual beliefs should I feel remain as the major focus whenever you are making important decisions which could not only potentially greatly influence your own future, but also the future of loved ones.
If you do still want children (not necessarily nine more) or you want to achieve something which is important to you, then do it because you want to do it, rather than allowing someone else from outside yourself (including a gypsy fortune teller) to decide what your future should be. I feel with due respect that you have often in the past given greater priority to what someone else feels is in your best interests over your own opinions on the matter, and this reading is emphasising that the time to stop doing this is now at hand.
You are here on Earth at this moment in time in order to learn important lessons which cannot be easily learnt anywhere else through first person hands on experience. As with dreams in which you find yourself a car's passenger instead of being it's driver, you are possibly giving your much of your personal power over to someone other than yourself. Someone whose intentions might be quite honourable although misguided. Time to get behind the steering wheel and become once more the master of your own destiny, or the architect of your personal future.
Could I also bring to your attention the fact that there is no one correct path for you to take (with all other paths being wrong), as all paths no matter how long and winding will eventually meet up with each other at the same top of the mountain? Do not therefore be afraid to try one path for a time, and if you feel that you are no longer making significant positive progress on that one, be willing to go back and sample another. Most of life is a process of trial and error (we often learn much more from our errors than we ever do from our little victories), so try to break away from the rigid thought habit of that to make mistakes and take whatever positive lessons you can from them are something to be feared. Sometimes we need to more fully feel the fear, but do it anyway.
Give yourself permission to make your own mistakes now and then, as any junior science student should know that it is much easier to change the course of a moving body once it has already been set in motion. In a similar manner it is much easier for the Universe to guide us towards what we most need from life (instead of simply what we feel that we want), once we begin to move once again. While your reading is not saying that you should make rash decisions and rush in where angels fear to tread with no consideration of the consequences of your actions, a life of indefinitely staying stuck where you are doing effectively nothing or of continuing to decide not to decide is not I feel a life worth living.
Hoping that these insights will be of some help and comfort to you, as I feel that you are doing the very best you are able with whatever resources our Creator has blessed you with, and that you therefore need to lighten up on yourself a little, and show just as much human compassion for yourself as you so frequently show to other people.
You are above all a people caring person!
Kindest regards,

Hi, EOT,
Wow--what a thoughtful, insightful, and useful response. To be perfectly honest, I've never put much stock in psychic readings (thanks, in part, to the "gypsy"--don't worry, I have no intention of or desire to have any more children--I've already got one who's damn near perfect, in my completely objective opinion !). And I also wasn't particularly interested in getting predictions about the future, as I feel that (a) the future will take care of itself, as it always had in a weirdly wonderful way for me, and (b) I like surprises! So I wasn't at all disappointed in your reluctance to make predictions! I really just wanted to get more of a sense of who I am now, and how I should proceed from here.
Your main point--that I have a huge tendency to allow the opinions of others to influence my decisions more than my own instincts and beliefs--is incredibly accurate, and something with which I've been struggling my entire life. The past year, and my "spiritual awakening" (it sounds like a trite term, but I guess that's what it's been), has made me think more about that than ever. My present "unseen" (almost!) influence/friend has been very helpful with that--I'm being guided in a perfectly non-judgemental, caring way by someone who knows me very well, yet doesn't try to force me in any one direction or another. Many of the "visible", living people in my life have been telling me that I "don't expect enough from life", and I've been having a hard time trying to make them understand that, for the most part, I'm very happy with my life and who I'm trying to become (basically, a better mother and a better person, moving toward more spiritual understanding with time). There are times when I feel like a total failure, but I am learning (as my spirit friend advised me) to "stop listening to the old voices", and to try to judge myself on my own terms. I have some big faults--a bad temper and a tendency to hang on to anger-- being some of the major ones. But I'm learning to find ways to make myself feel good about who I am, and when I'm able to do that I tend to act like a better person to others.
As far as integrating my spiritual life with my "real" life is concerned, it's difficult. I've made the mistake of telling some people what I've been experiencing spiritually; usually they back off from talking about it because, I believe, they don't think it's real (I probably wouldn't either, if I didn't experience it for myself, so I don't blame them!). That's why I was happy to find this forum; I decided (too late) to keep most things from people I know, but I still felt the need to talk about them with people on "this side" as well--people less likely to think I've just lost it a little bit (they can't think I'm TOO crazy, because I function in the same, "normal" way as I always did, but still...).
So, yes, I am stuck in a number of ways (the main reason is that my decisions influence my son's life as well), but your point makes sense at a gut level--I need to go on my own best instincts, even if I make mistakes (as I will) from time to time. I feel blessed that in the past year I've been given a source of guidance unlike all of the other ones available to me in that it seems to be given out of love and understanding of who I am, rather than out of subjective ideas about who I should be, and what I should want from my life.
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. If I can ever return the favor in some way, please let me know!
Take care,
Doe

One more thing about how the "old voices" affect what I've been experiencing spiritually--I can have spirits staring me in the face, stroking my hand, poking me in the shoulder, talking to me, making perfectly accurate predictions about things, and making the little clicking noises in my ear to get my attention, and I STILL have this little voice inside saying, "This isn't really happening--you just think it is because you want it so badly." I could have a horde of perfectly visible spirits show up in the morning bearing a large latte and a croissant from Starbuck's on a silver platter, and a little spirit mariachi band playing my favorite song, and a notarized note from God saying that it's not my imagination, and I'd still have .01% of my brain denying that it was real! Go figure...
