You will eventually have the surgers, I sense that is is C5 &C6 where you have the bulging disc. You must be careful with the problem as it could cut off your spinal fluids to the brain. No sudden impacts, falls, etc. There is some physical therapy that could assist, but eventually the surgery will be done, you will be off work approximately another 6 months. You can rest assured you will be able to go back to work and will be doing something you truly enjoy. I sense a lot of laughter, and relief.
There will be a lengthy recovery due to minor problems, but you will come through with flying colors.
