I have heard that if you desire to be successful than you would need to remove things or people that hinder your growth. This has just happened with one of my friends. He was just to negative and I have a few other good friends who are just plain unproductive, I mean no advancement what so ever. One of those people continues to convert me to Seventh day Adventist and he also gave me horrible advice investment wise so I completely ignored him also. So I'm wondering if I should just cut off all the people around me who are just crowding my space?? I just want to make the best decision, I'm not trying to be mean but if theses people are halting my growth then I'm out of here.  Any insight will be appreciated.

Hey,

I  wanted to tell you that you already know what you need to do, but you are second guessing yourself... I personally was in this same place about this time last year and I didn't listen to the voice inside of me for months... I was miserable... and once I stuck with the decision that I knew I should make I have been happier and healthier than I have in a long long time....   I wish you the best of luck with this and I want you to know that if ya need someone to talk to then I am here for ya....

I have to make a small correction, I was never converted to Adventist, even though he gave me books and swore I surrendered to (Satan) a mythological being he has never fully researched. Thank you for the insight nyte, I get I better get out my samurai blade  lol.

*smile* I am happy to be of help, and I know how hard it can be to look at a friend and have to make this kind of choice... I always want to look for the best in someone... and even though I just stopped being available, it became very ugly very quickly and one of them even now still posts horrid things about me on his myspace page (we have mutual friends who tell me about it...) I have asked them to stop and to not talk about me with him, but they will do what they want to... *shrugs* I thought that he was a good friend not only to me but to D too... and the things that have happened because we weren't at his beck and call anymore just proved to me that he was a BIG problem in our lives.... So good luck with it all and perhaps I could borrow your sword when you are done using it... I'll return it I promise!! *smile* Jk....
Could I please just add here?

Could I please just add here that it is generally not necessary for you to first eliminate people from your life whom you feel are are hindering your growth? Normally you simply need to make whatever positive changes are required within yourself, and these people will soon tend to drift away and leave you alone, to be later replaced by people who are more consistent with your new beliefs about yourself.

There is also the distinct possibility that the very people whom you believe are currently standing in your way came into your life precisely to teach you that often our greatest personal strengths and positive qualities are developed in adversity.

In other words, the person you are attempting to eliminate may have agreed to before you entered your present lifetime to become a way in which you would develop much more quickly than you would have, if you had never met them. By wishing them any harm, you would be effectively shooting yourself in the foot?
