Hello Eye of tiger,

I posted a message a few weeks ago about a dream i had in the dreams forum re my cat.

The pressure at work is still there but my boss has eased up on me. however i dont believe this is a change on him.

i am respectfully requesting if you could tell me if i will be 1. changing jobs soon 2. going back to university to take further studies.

thank you so much.

regards,

Dean

Hello again Dean,

Not a problem. Always pleased to be of assistance to you, if indeed I feel that I am able to.

From the Psychic Reading forum guidelines for requesting a reading (my personal disclaimer):

Quote:
Yes and No questions are very hard to answer successfully with any reading.

In your case, rather than it being YES or NO, it is option 1 to change jobs soon and therefore keep working or option 2 to temporarily leave the workforce, and return to University in order to improve your formal qualifications.

My impressions are that you have only perceived that your boss is easing up on you with regard to your work responsibilities, rather than him actually changing how he treats you as a new employee. In other words, this is exactly what you suggested yourself when you said:

Quote:
however i dont believe this is a change on him.

The change is therefore coming more from within you in the way in which you view the difficulty of the tasks given to you as part of your job. This I feel is inevitable as you gradually learn the basics of your new job. At first you will feel intensely awkward and will be consequently be more likely to make silly mistakes, but your boss obviously had enough confidence in taking you on that you would quickly learn the ropes and he never expected you not to make honest mistakes now and then.

Perhaps your boss is also picking up on the fact that you are being a little too hard on yourself, and has changed to a certain extent in what he expects of you in order to encourage you to persevere with the job as I definitely do not feel that he wishes to lose you now after he has made such a major investment in training you. Your boss appears to me to much more confidence in your ability to do this job than you do, and if he had wanted to edge you out of the job by giving you either less or more challenging work to do than he felt you were capable of, he is I sense the type of person who would have by now told you honestly that he no longer wanted your services.

To be entirely frank with you, my impressions are that this decision of your's is a no brainer. Rather than taking what you may see as your boss's changed behaviour towards you  as a sign that he wants you to leave and that you should consequently return to University to continue your studies, many of the valuable lessons and work skills you need to be able to develop can ONLY be learnt from practical hands on experience - BY CONTINUING WITH YOUR CURRENT JOB.

I therefore feel that neither option is the best one for you at present, although if you continue to see your boss's behaviour as a particularly bad omen for continuing to hold down this job, then the quality of your work could suffer as a result, and you might then potentially choose to leave your current position, BEFORE you are fired.

I feel that you are seriously misinterpreting your boss's changed responses to you (if in fact they have changed) as a sign that his belief in you as a valuable employee has suddenly been lost, when I on the other hand believe that he is attempting to encourage you to keep going. He is therefore both being a responsible and caring employer, and people like him are increasingly hard to find these days. There will always be a certain amount of stress and pressure involved with doing such a job, so if you either choose to return to the relative comfort of your academic studies or change jobs now, I feel that you will then be doing both your boss and yourself a terrible disservice.

NO TO OPTION 1
NO TO OPTION 2

Stick with your current job, as some of our most valuable life lessons can only effectively be learnt in the real world, or school of hard knocks.

Hoping these insights have been of some comfort and help to you,

Cheers,

thank you sooooooo much for your insight. i find it very wise.

I have been with this company for the last 4 years, they HAVE as you pointed out invested alot of time and money in me as i was hand picked by them while i was finishing my thesis at university, i have done many industry training courses over the years at their expense.

you were right when it came to silly mistakes, when i first started 4 years ago i made silly mistakes here and there but i still fought hard and learnt from those mistakes.

i will stike it out till the end of the year and progress to the next level to another firm.

one ofthe other major reasons i think i should leave by the end of the year is i am out growing my position in the company and there is no room to grow.

thank you again.

regards,

dean.

Hello again Dean,

Thanking you for both your feedback and kind words.

You wrote in your response:

Our own daughter is in a very similar situation to your own. I therefore can well identify with how you must be feeling.

Tracey (25) works in the highly specialised area of digital copyright management as a librarian in a University library, and just as with you there is little opportunity for promotion and the department budget is no longer adequate to either meet their increasing needs, as well as those of their clients.

But again like with so many other people, it is neither wise nor safe to leave your current job (no matter how much it irritates you) UNTIL you have another definite one to go to.

Take good care of yourself my friend,
