Hello, I have just found your site, and will keep coming back and reading, and looking at the topics, and rooms. As many times in the past, i have had things happen, that I have thought would happen, or stange thoughts, that later can be explained. I am a sagaturaus, born london, 6/12/1955. I feel so lost, and troubled, with my life, not knowing, which way to go, I am not my usual confident self, and I seem to be hesitating to go in the direction, which seems the most logical, something keeps holding me back, and I wonder why? I just go round and round in circles, not getting anywhere. I know it is early in beng a member, but any help, or guiadance would be appreciated. love lambtail

Welcome Lambtail,

Thanking you for your private message. As I explained while members are encouraged to first look round the boards before posting their first reading request it is left up to the readers themselves to decide whether or not the request is urgent enough to require a reading to be given sooner rather than later. I can sense by reading between the lines of what you wrote both here and in your PM that you are asking for our assistance out of a genuine need to determine what is the best possible course of action or path to follow from now on.

As you say, this feeling of utter confusion and sudden loss of self confidence seems totally uncharacteristic for a person such as yourself who likes to be in total control of her herself and her life at all times. While I believe that something things in life were meant to happen (we have very little control over this, although we may be able at times to control to a varying degree exactly when it happens), we do have much more control over a great proportion of the events in our lives as well as the influences over us. We are constantly creating and re-shaping our own personal futures by the decisions we make in the present moment? Feeling relatively in control is therefore up to a certain extent necessary if we are not going to feel as though we are merely the helpless victims of random and overpowering forces from outside of us.

But like all things of a positive nature, this one can at times be taken to extreme as we were I believe never intended to have complete control over everything, at all times.

Quote:
"Lord grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and
the wisdom to know the difference."

[Saint Francis of Assisi]

And within that famous saying is I sense the solution to your current problem. The solution to your present predicament is to either accept what you cannot change, have both the courage and I would add faith in yourself and in life in general to make whatever changes you realistically can, and gradually learn while practising compassion for oneself to discern what can be changed, and what it appears to all intensive purposes cannot.

You may quite understandably feel hesitant at times while you are still learning the ropes so to speak, because your reading indicates that because you believe deep within yourself that you have made some particularly unwise decisions in the past, that you are now afraid that this pattern of perceived failure will continue indefinitely into the future. It consequently feels easier and safer not to do anything, because you believe deep within your own subconscious mind that it would have no effect, or worse that you might actually make things even worse than they seem to be now.

Your major problem as I see it on the basis of this intuitive reading is that your fears and self doubts are built around a false set of assumptions. While everyone I am sure makes mistakes now and then, I am also absolutely certain that you have made some as well which turned out with hindsight to have been the best possible one you could have made at the time with the information which was available to you then. But the human mind frequently works in strange ways (and our minds are no different) playing a game of illusion with us by selecting out from the past only those decisions which turned out less successfully than expected.

The many times when you made what turned out in the end to be a good decision what has made a positive impact on your life has been concealed from you, fooling you into believing that your life has consisted only of an endless series of failures when it is obviously nothing of the sort. Making a decision to allow these fears and doubts to continue to have power over you is unfortunately a decision in itself, and it will eat away at your feelings of self confidence  if you allow this to continue as surely as a spreading cancer does it's damage to the healthy cells of our bodies.

Feel the fear, but do it anyway? Your understandable doubts are not a sign that you are headed for making yet another inevitable mistake, but are in reality to be interpreted as opportunities for you to grow and develop more fully as both a spiritual and human being. Instead of always viewing your personal challenges as problems intended to trip you up, see them from a new and fresh perspective (easier said than done) as being valuable opportunities to prove to yourself and others just how much progress you have already made in many aspects of your life.

Instead of dwelling on your mistakes as you see them, dwell upon your many successes instead, in order to give your courage and faith a much needed and long overdue boost. Think back to the times when your life seemed to be going relatively well, and things seemed to flow effortlessly along as though you were invincible. You may even find regularly using a self affirmation (such as the above saying from St Francis) when you are relaxed or are meditating will gradually help you to begin to turn around your frame of mind in a more positive direction.

We have ALL created and reinforced these negative mental habits over many years, so do not be too hard upon yourself if this positive mental shift fails to occur overnight. Nobody should for one moment tell you that this is going to be easy, but on the other hand I can almost guarantee that if this is allowed to go on unchecked, then things will sadly most likely get even more difficult for you from now on. Not an option I would recommend to any of my friends, least of all you!

I cannot promise or predict with any certainty that the next few months are going to be plain sailing and everything is going to happen as you dreamed it would, but I do feel increasingly confident that if you can apply the principles I have described above while being at the same time a kinder friend to yourself that there is great potential for success and increasing happiness ahead for you, as well as for those people whom you love (and who so deeply love you in return).

May your life soon become a series of small personal victories over the fears and doubts which have held you back from realising your full potential for being joyful.

Love, Light and Peace to you always,

I would like to say thank you to you for giving me another perspective, of things, as often in life, you cannot see the "forest for the trees". It has given me something to think about, and work towards,  and I will certainly try and remember the saying, that you quoted, it makes a lot of sense. I will read your message, a few times, as often you pick up  things, that you miss, on the first reading.
Once again, thank you

And thank you in return for giving me this opportunity to read for you, as I do recognise how difficult things have been for you recently in knowing just where to go from here.

Even readers themselves often need to get another outside perspective on their problems by consulting a colleague. Readers need other readers, as it is often difficult to read for ourselves in an objective manner?
