Hi Pete,
Just like yourself I tried to do a quick reading concerning the most likely location of your wife's papers, but effectively got nowhere fast! While my mind or logic is telling me on one hand that there would be no valid reason for your wife or for that matter yourself to remove the document folder from the house, my first impressions are that it has been unintentionally removed.
I see it as being either under or between other papers, books or documents in your family car, or even at either one of your places of work (assuming that your wife has a job outside of your family home).
Perhaps if you think back to when you last opened the document folder, or might have used papers of a similar type it could potentially give your minds an effective prod as to where the document folder is now most likely to be located. If it is not in the places where you expect to find it, look in the places where you would never otherwise think to look?
While we should all learn to increasingly listen to our own intuition (or if that fails somebody else's) about where something valuable which has now gone missing could possibly be, attempting to mentally retrace your steps is often an equally effective strategy or valuable supplement in eventually arriving at the truth of the matter?
Please keep us updated as to any further developments,
EOT

Thanks Eye Of Tiger,
Your were right, it was in my briefcase which goes in and out of work. It was amongst my papers. Thank you for getting me out of the dog house
Those papers were important to us.
Cheers
Pete
