you sure know how to make a girl emotional. Thank you for being a friend, I have one more subject I would like some clarification on and that is my relationship with the one I am with. I have many questions but I don't feel comfortable saying them. I promise this will be the last time, I don't want t bore you or drain all your nerves and time with my confusion. I adore all friends.

Dear Maryanne,

Without revealing any of the finer details about what you have told me in your PM, your anxieties and obvious concern that your present career path will not in the end ever be fully satisfying to you are quite understandable, but to a great degree you have nothing much to worry about with regards to either your relationship over the longer term, nor do you need to feel that the course you are currently doing is going to distract you from what is of greatest importance on your spiritual path.

The important point I would like to make here is that your education, career path and your relationships as well as any of the other various aspects of your life are just as important as the other to your overall and ongoing development as both a spiritual and human being. In other words, they are just as much a part of your spirituality as you attempting to discover your life purpose or doing any form of meditation or other spiritual discipline is.

Instead of seeing your life experiences simply as being a chain of beginnings and ends (where you continue to mourn for what is past, while unduly fearing whatever is to come in the future) regard them instead as a series of lessons of graded difficulty levels, each lesson building upon and blending in with those which preceded them.

Spiritual teachers continually encourage us to live more in the present moment, which does not mean that we should not make any plans. It does however mean that we need to see the challenges before us from a much higher and more balanced perspective or viewpoint as being valuable opportunities for growth and development, and not merely just another problem.

Now the way in which you view the world in general and especially the challenges which you may encounter is not suddenly going to make life trouble free from then on. But it will without doubt free up or re-direct much of the wasted energy which you previously consumed worrying yourself into becoming a potential nervous wreck, into more constructive channels instead.

What I feel that this intuitive reading is trying to tell you is that while your concerns about your partner's career making him somehow forget how much he loves you and how much you really mean to him, and your worries that all the time and effort you are presently putting into successfully completing your course will prove to be wasted are perfectly normal human weaknesses, effectively in the real world they have very little basis in reality (if at all).

My impressions are consequently that you really do not have anything significant to be concerned about with reference to any of the life areas you have mentioned in your PM, and that as your life path continues to unfold you will probably look back to this time and wonder what all the fuss you were making was all about.

You have been given all the inner and outer resources you will ever need to successfully negotiate your unique life path, but I see our major purpose as being to help you to remain reasonably calm, while assisting you to find new and more creative ways of looking at what were previously only more problems.

Learn to see them rather as positive opportunities for showing those people closest to you (as well as convincing yourself) what wonderful things you are really capable of when you are willing to take one step at a time, well armed with both hope and courage. By doing this you are surely much less likely to frighten yourself to the point that you are no longer willing to give yourself a reasonable chance of success. If you simply give up with your relationship and you alternately do not persevere with your studies, you will probably never find out?

You will be I am certain quite relieved to hear that I have now put away my soapbox, at least for the present moment.
