I agree with the others. You need to go. You dont have to go forever, just go until councelling. But during therapy dont live to gether. If he wont agree to get help, then you need to leave. It wont get better no matter what he says, I know from experience.....Good Luck

I went through the exact same thing 15 years ago, my husband cheated on me and when I found out and confronted him whilst he was under the influence of drink (bad mistake) he used my head for football practice which resulted in a visit to the hospital, the doctor said "he had only seen injuries like mine on a Rugby Field!"
I sued for divorce, he called every day begging forgiveness he went to councelling I live in the UK and the name of group is MOVE Men Overcoming Violent Emotions. We eventualy got back together and he has never laid his hand or foot on me again.
I am not advising one way or another but for me it did turn out okay but some men don't want to or can't change, only you yourself can make the decision, look deep into your heart and you will find the answer.
I wish you the best of luck
Hilary

Thanks so much to everyone for the responses. & I really was glad to hear that your situation worked out Hilary. Its good to hear positive endings which aren't as common. I know he is very sorry for what he has done. We've been through a lot together over the past 7yrs. We've only been married since July 15th though. I can say that he has never laid a hand on me in 7yrs until now. We are under a lot of stress financially which is no excuse. But there are a lot of influences involved here. I am trying to convice him that we need to go to counseling. He hasn't said no yet. But I know him pretty well & I think he'll go. Especially if I were to tell him if he doesn't go I'll leave. We both love each other deeply & since the night he hit me he's been wonderful to me & the kids now. Probably half from guilt but I'm not complaining. The problem with him seems to be the mood swings. I believe he is definitely bipolar. And part of the problem we have is with our different cultures. He is Puerto Rican & those men seem to have a control issue. He is actually not as bad as some of the other men in his family are/were. Some of his uncles don't even let their wives learn to drive or leave the house without the men right by their side. My husband encourages me to have a job & friends etc... but he still is very demanding & spoiled. He expects me to put him first at all times. Which is hard when we have children. (5 between both of us. 1 that is ours together a 3yr old.) So kids are very demanding especially little ones. So sometimes my husband acts like a bigger child than they do!!! Also, there is a 14yr age difference. He's 47 me 33. Sometimes he treats me more like a father than a husband. He's very bossy. But he's a Leo too which explains that. I think there is definitely hope here & we have a lot to fight for. I'm not willing to give up on him or us yet. I love him too much. I don't feel that me & the kids are in any danger. If I did I would already be gone. I will keep everyone posted on the outcome. Thanks so much again everyone.
