Are Guardian angels and guides the same thing? Do people who don't have psychic abilities still have them?

Oh, of course they do. The guardian angels or guides have got nothing to do with one's ability (or lack of) any psychic gift. I am no expert in guides and guardian angels, but it is said that we all have a guardian angel from the day we are borne and guides which come to us at certain levels in our life for different purposes.

There is a book which talks about psychic abilities and guides and angels by Sonia Choquette called "Ask Your Guides". It is an informative book that may answer some of these questions.

Yeah i read that guardian angels are comprised of family members and  people who have a vested interest in us ie family friends that have passed on.

To clarify the spirit entities that can and do visit with all of us (psychic or otherwise) it is important to understand that Guides are not your Guardian, just as angels are wish us but not our guides.  

We all have a guardian who signs up with for our lifetime.  They are not our past relatives, they are caring individuals who have a willingness to forgo their own progressive education to pass on what they have to the next generation.  They care about us, guard us from harm (as much as we allow them to help by listening to the still, small, voice within and trusting our own instincts) and they stay for a lifetime of love and friendship at its deepest meaning and level.

We can have spirit guides when we are doing anything creative.  Most writers would tell you they had a 'muse' or inner voice that kept leading them on to more and more in their work.  Spirit guides do just that 'guide' us when we have lost our path and don't know the next step to take.  Listening to the inner voice helps us define our own journey.

Angels are special messengers of God who have never had an earth life (or so most people believe - although there is a theory that when children die they become angels) but many who have lived a spirit life on earth can attain to being angels in the next level of existence.  They tend to come when there is a need that we have called upon them to help resolve in our lives.  

Now we come to our own loved ones.  They are those ancestors of our own that keep a loving eye on us from a higher perspective.  They are NEVER our guides or guardians.  There are many experienced people to fill those roles.

Yes, they can communicate and impress us with solutions to some of our concerns.  But if you knew someone in life that was an alcoholic (for instance) and you would not listen while they were here - would they benefit you from the spirit side of life to listen to their advice in your life?

The psychic sensitivities that are inherent in all of us play the role of helping us to listen and learn from spirit side of life.  They can help us to see the continuity of life and also the communication of spirit - while still encased in the physical body and the disembodied.  Yes, there is a wonderful spirit connection.
