Thanks for that. I have just started using fairy cards I wonder if i might be more attuned to those... I may still get another type of standard tarot cards.

In a discussion on the Tarot (and I don't have much expertise in them) someone told me it is a good grounding to get to know the standards first, then playing with other cards (angel, fairy, etc.) takes on a stronger meaning.  Just a thought I picked up.

Fairy cards are usually oracle cards, there is a Fairy Tarot deck but I think you mean the oracle?

Oracles are totally different to Tarot. They are usually a lot fewer cards, anything from around 8 cards to over 100 and they usually have meanings and messages written on the actual card, so they are very easy to read. They usually only contain positive messages and are light and fun and happy cards.

Tarot uses symbology, and for most decks the symbology and card structure is the same even though different pictures and themes might be used. For instant you can get a Tree Tarot, Faerie Tarot, Halloween Tarot or Crystal Tarot. Tarot is well known for giving the whole picture, not just the best bits. It contains cards like Death, The Tower and The Devil, and this can put many people off who interprete these cards as bad and negative when in fact they mostly portray very positive aspects of change and triumph of good over evil etc.

Its very possible that you get on well with your fairy cards because they are what you need at this time. There are some lovely bright tarot decks and some really scarey ones too lol.  What I would recommend is anyone that is slightly interested in finding out more about tarot, join a group or class like the free one here at Mystic Board, and come learn more about Tarot with us    All welcome.

I am not sure how tarot can help with reading oracles? Apart from I do find that may people start to open up spiritually and psychically when they start to work with tarot. Some of the exercises we do are designed to get people confident in reading and to listen to and use their inner self and intuititive side more.....

Thank you, Gem for the explanation.  Always good to add to the storehouse.
