I've been wondering about this for some time and wanted to get some feedback from people on this board.  

I've heard and read countless stories of people who have been through traumatic experiences like near death, actual dying and coming back, etc who have found themselves with a psychic ability after the fact.  How does this happen?

I thank everyone in advance for reading this and posting.  

We all have the sensitivities to open to psychic abilities.  The traumatic event may just be a catalyst to what is already present.

I watched a program correlating head injuries with psychic activation. I agree that trauma could just be a catalyst ot a neccesatator of psychic activation.

A lot of wisdom can come through suffering. A lot of spiritual leaders went through much suffering as they grew which may have served as a catalyst or neccesatator for thir spiritual growth. I can imagine trauma being to psychic activation as suffering is to wisdom.

Suffering can do one of two things - it can open our mind to another world of possibilities.  OR It can leave us bitter in our pain that it was inflicted upon us.

I was thinking the same thing Spirit. I've heard more stories of people going the bitter route instead of learning from their pain.  It's so easy to be angry and hurt instead of reaching beyond to what lay beneath.

I know that we all have some kind of psychic power and that it only needs to be tapped in tp.  If, however, a traumatic event is the catalyst then how come not all those who experience traumatic events become psychic?  Does that go back to it's a gift and it's only given to those who will use it right?

Also, how does one tap in to their psychic ability without resorting to a traumatic event?
