In the beginning I had a hard time telling what I was seeing,
I'd see images alot, always thought they were "ghost"
Then I noticed that I'd see my son in the doorway minutes before he was actually there.
I began wondering how many of the images were really ghost.
Over the years I've found for myself, that the energy from people here on earth that I see before they are there, Do Not Talk back to me When I ask who are you.
The ones that are deceased speak back, in either words in my head or feelings and emotions.

For example of a living energy image,

I saw a small fragile man image in my hallway one day, I wondered what he was doing there, Just standing there, So I asked who are you, what do you want, There was no response,

Later that day I had an impulse to go to the fruit store,
While in line, I decided out of the blue to apply $10 to the bill of the man  standing behind me.

I hurried out of the store, I didn't want a big scene of thank yous' ect..
He caught up to me while I was unlocking my car door,

He didn't say thank you,,, He said "when did you hear me?" How did you know?"

As a deceased energy,

I have an ex-boyfriend, From many years ago,
One night I was sitting in my bedroom, A woman image showed up,
I asked who are you, she showed me the exboyfriend in my head,
I thought Okay I'm nuts,

I got the image of a funeral, and then a picture of a death that wasn't pleasant,, So I thought to myself, This is his grandmother, I felt a nudge on my back,

I asked so what do you want,, and apparently she's having a hard time connecting with him, That's not my problem,
Whatever, so it ended, just like it began, there and gone,
The next day The phone rang, It was the exboyfriend, someone I haven't talked to in over 10 years, How and Why did he get my phone number!
I wanted to talk to him, to try to relay his grandmothers issue, but changed my number instead,,

Anyways, my point to this is the differences in communications.

As Mediums what have you learned between the energies of the living and deceased.

Start with the fact that we are all body, mind, spirit in a balance.  Then when you open to the psychic you take all the senses (sight, sound, smell, taste, touch - tactile and emotional) to the psychic sensitivities within.  Adding intuition from the gut and I know from the heart connects the spirit to spirit realms through exercises in meditation.

In this way, all energies are available.  And they all resonate at their own level for understanding where the message arises.  Spirit is within, spirit can attune without.

i dont think i've really experianced that yet, i have images come to my head but they are events. some have come true so far, others i probably have to wait and see. But they normally just come to me out of no where sometimes, and sometimes they get triggered if i look at a certain object
