Dhav, FireRose, Doe: Perhaps, you're right. I don't fully love myself because I can see so many things I can change. I'm still working towards a better me, but does feeling of being comfortable with yourself really help with spiritual awakening?

Once again, sorry for not replying soon. Bad things happened, and I needed to sulk for days over ice cream and chocolate.

No, there is a concept the dark night of the soul.  It's a time when the person walks through the darkness of themselves, struggles, experiences all that is dark for them.
At times, a person goes thru the Dark Night of the Soul and attains Enlightenment, because they have surrendered everything and found the truth.

We have tools of our own consciousness (visualization, meditation, affirmation) and using them to balance and empower our being is a good place to start this journey of enlightenment.  We can only work on self so they help you do that in balance and harmony.
