Are people who committed suicide more or less likely to linger on our plain?

It does seem to me that they are often harder to contact once passed over?.

Just wondering what other views are on this..

Could I please ask if you have known someone personally who took their own life, and/or are presently experiencing problems in reaching out to or communicating with them in a spiritual sense?

I strongly suspect that there are no general rules which equally apply to every single case of suicide, as to how long they will continue to linger near our own physical plane. They cannot actually linger on it, once they have left their physical body for the last time.

I believe that it would probably have a lot to do with what lessons were left incomplete when the person prematurely ended their own life, as well as the way in which they chose to extinguish the final spark of their most recent lifetime on Earth.

Some people when alive have always experienced communication difficulties with others (which may be a big part of the reason that they were not willing to reach out for help from loved ones), and this will not be any different once they have passed over.

One thing I do know for certain is that people who have become so desperate that they see suicide as their only viable option are treated with great compassion by beings of Light in the spirit world, in order that they will eventually be healed of their inner emotional pain.

Forget about those claims that people who do this will be consigned forever to be tormented in the flames of hell or purgatory for taking what is only God's right to take back, as there is nothing quite as painful as realising with the luxury of hindsight that there were other ways of solving their problems while still on Earth (but it is too late now), and watching the terrible legacy which they have left behind for those who still love them in both anger and guilt that they could not see it coming or stop it from happening (no matter how hard they might have tried).

Also do we beat up on people because they are depressed or mentally ill, as many but not all suicides are not enough of sound mind to be able to make such a critical decision on the spot?

When I was younger I worked helping people that were contemplating taking their own life and I wonder how many of them actually believed in life after death or re-incarnation and if perhaps the internet had sparked the idea that they could just stop this life and go and get another one?

Yes, have known people in the past that have taken their own life, and year and a half ago I lost someone I was very close to. We always communicated well and were best friends/family.  Our communication was always open and honest except around the time he took his life.

I also fear, with the rise of spirituality, the pastures for some may look greener on the otherside.

I was raised a strict Baptist but as an adult, have leaned away from that. Feeling there is something more going on. Being raised Baptist, it was indicated that I was a taken over by Satan because I was having precognitive dreams.  I became afraid to even speak of the dreams I was having for fear of jusgement.

I accept this now as part of me. A glorious part that I want to learn more about. This was given to me at birth, by God, so who am I to say he made a mistake?
