well what got me this far is a voice that i have that i cant see and that i know is trust worthy, i know how i feel what i think about why i think the way i do and what has lead me to where it began talking to me. This spirit has also directed me in my meditations what i have read and used as tools and has connected me with many spirits that have in turn helped me.

From what I understand and I am not exactly an expert, but a walk-in completely takes control, you would essentially be that other spirit. What you are describing sounds to me like spirit guides.
