How much information should we provide readers/psychics for a reading? Is the date of birth necessary ?

You might give those info you yourself find can better that reading you want to receive.

When you ask for a reading....it might be done in a Reading forum....not in a major forum that is made for discussion....said in general terms

I cannot speak on behalf of all the other readers on the Psychic Reading forum, but when you request a psychic reading from me it would greatly help me if you made your question as clear as possible, plus providing your full date of birth and first name only. But in the end it is entirely your decision as to how much information you should reveal. We cannot force you to tell us something which you do not wish to appear on a public forum.

You are in control.

Other readers including MangoMom who is the only person who presently gives Akashic readings will have their own specific requirements as to what extra information is deemed necessary (if at all), and will generally tell you if they need any more, before giving you your actual reading. Usually a well thought out question is all that is necessary to be able to make the connection.

Read the relevant forum rules and other suggestions in order to get your reading within the shortest possible period of time, and with as little need to add further useful information as possible (read any forum stickies).

Once the reading has been completed, adding any after thoughts will require a completely new reading to be given at a later date as a new topic. It is therefore to your advantage to say everything you want to say very clearly in your original reading request.

Personally I do not need anything other than your request Many mediums, psychics and tarot readers work on energy and spiritual contact and so do not need or use numbers, date of birth, name etc. They are a channel and just pass on the message coming through, they do not seek the message the message finds them and they just pass it on.

That said, date of birth is imperative to know that the seeker is 18 or over and so legally allowed to receive a reading in some countries. Others use the date of birth to work out the horoscope, personality and other traits numerologically and so base their reading on that. Giving the  dob also precludes some things and gives a good insight into a person, whether old or young, child bearing age or retired and the personality aries, gemini etc. Thats why many seekers don't like to give any information, they prefer to 'test' the reader, but in doing so they do tend to just hurt their reading not the reader.

It's up to you, do what you feel safe and secure with, or , learn to read tarot, or download one of the Reading programs from Mystic Board and read for yourself

Interesting question.  Each medium attunes in their own way - some can glean information from name, birth date, etc.  Numerology can play role (even unconsciously) as can astrology.  To fear it is too much would eliminate any honest exchange.  A reading is not about one person doing all the work.
