Another interesting point raised - ty blue - Chakras!  We can and do meditate without the use of these specific energy centres.  IME the chakras are an ancient study out of the east, where a lot of valid and valuable information has been lost in the translation to the west (new age) and we should be leaving it alone til we have all the facts.

There are ways and means to envision energy without the chakra system and getting caught up in the various opinions on the lessons.  Just my thoughts here.....

We have a lot of valid psychic development and unfolding without the chakra systems so the astral problem is best served by leaving them alone for the time being.
