Hi there, my first post on here. Looks like a great community.

To start off, I will say I am psychic medium who has been doing this work for quiet a few years. I've written some e-books on different spiritual/psychic subject matter. I truly enjoy the work and subject matter.

I wanted peoples opinions on "free" readings. To me, I have always looked at them as a negative for our community. In one of my books I actually discuss this very topic.

Why are they negative?

Because in this day and age, the trade currency used is money. In the old days many things were done free but those were much different times. So today this means if someone offers a valuable service, and offers their time, we pay. We take professionals like doctors seriously because of their education, experience, but also because they charge for their time. Then as a result, we get to judge the quality based on price. But as a result of the charge, we judge QUALITY. Then we can compare. We can judge the whole field. Today, if some doctor did their work for free, would we not stop and think about their qualifications?

And furthermore, many people justify doing readings by the justification that its "free". Once again we have a negative occurance because we have likley unqualified people stating and putting out information which may create a dark mark for the community as a whole. When ever someone states something is free, quality goes out the window.

Many, many doctors, nurses and other extremely well known and well qulaified professionals do their work for free sometimes, it is called volunteering, and many work for charities.




This is something that does crop up now and again. Just because a reading is given for free does not relieve the reader from judicial liability and responsibility, they in fact enter into a contract with the querent and as such there are still rules, guidelines and such to be read, heeded and taken into account.

As you have just joined and I can see from some of your posts that perhaps you have not had time to look thoroughly into our forums, rules, guidelines and community, I will gently point out that here at Mystic Board we believe that giving everyone the opportunity to get readings for free is very beneficial and worthwhile to everyone involved, although sometimes it does upset those that charge, and we do not allow advertising unless by arrangement.

All the readings given here are free, but that does not mean that our readers are unqualified or unprofessional or give bad quality readings. It actually means the opposite; many are certified professionals that like to 'give something back' to the community and that enjoy being part of a lively and loving community, the questions are as diverse as the members, and the readings can be as lengthy if not longer in some cases than any paid for one. Many readers go on and give lengthy aftercare and support to our members. And all of it free of charge

What a wonderful community we have here and all our readers and members have my thanks for making this place what it is.

To be clear, I wasn't writing about this site particularly, I was just writing generally. I wasn't even actually aware readings were done here at first.

But I can tell you as a psychic medium who does charge, and word from others who do, charging has a way of making you responsible, and really makes you have to justify the quality you provide. And you always strive to do better because the quality is always the thing in question. Personally I think that is what creates good readings. And should be obvious but obviously psychics who do not provide quality but charge will just not be able to do what they do. So personally, I love it. I feel its a test for us to do our job well.

I can see you are young and still need a lot of experience.
Your point about why we shall pay for the Readings and that they increase in quality by paying....is what I call a self illusion at best.

By following your point...then we must measure everything here in life by money. It will be a very cold society you will we shall have, because you can't say that your point only shall apply to the trade you will do...so every little thing must be changed in gold...or the service are less good.

We have several VERY good Readers here on the site, who freely give of their time.....yes we can agree that some misuse their kindness....but the product they deliver er good....and since every asker have free will....much of the Readings value will be up to them to evaluate and which step they will take to adjust thing.

There is no Reading that in itself can fix any problem....that is only the will of your asker.

So paid/free readings are up to what the Reader feel....His/hers abilities will not increase with the amount of gold on the table...neither be lowered because of doing it in favour of goodness with free Reading.

I think the thread has been taken the wrong way.

My general point is that we have to be very careful when dealing with things that are free in today's society. The idea of getting things for free may have been normal back in the day but it isn't today.

For example, this site is a wonderful tool and meeting point for us all, BUT it runs on money. People pay for ads, etc Now there is nothing wrong with this because this site is quality. We are happy, there is a good community, so we support it.

But IMO, in this day in age, we do sometimes have to question the free things. Many people question when something nice is done for them today. I would open the door for an older lady and she would look at me in amazement. But that was common practice in the past.  So times have changed I believe.

I am not suggesting that quality is linked to money neccesarily. But at the same time I would wager that ones that do charge are more reliable on the whole. Since if you think about it, the ones who are the top psychics, and really believe they can make a difference, will want to do it full-time, and in this society if they did it for free..THEY would be out in the cold.
