I do free tarot readings occasionally, especially when they are NEEDED, I also get paid for most of my readings, as I have stated in this forum before, Your gift is a gift, it did not cost you a cent, you were not charged for it, so if someone comes to you and says I NEED, you must as a kind and caring human being help that person in need. And I do work prn in the medical field, I do volunteer my time with seniors, and disabled children, I am sure I could find something more (financially rewarding) but it would not give my soul the joy that my charity works give me. With that said, before you charge someone for something you can call a gift, first ask yourself, What did it cost me?

just thought I'd share my perspective, I find that most people who need my help cannot afford it,  I try and give them my best, No charges apply. If some one keeps coming back over and over for silly purposes like the self created problems I've warned them about then, I'm likely to charge a fee so they don't abuse my gift and it deters them. But what if i were to turn someone away that truly did need my help because they didn't have the money. Like my daughter says "what if they are an angel sent from god?". On an earthly note some doctors turn people away when they are needed because of money, and they are impersonal at best because they are treating the masses. Money being the motivator is sad and cold. I'm lucky in the north we all barter, sometimes I get a beautiful salmon,or dreamcatcher in return. I say they don't have to but they insist. I don't believes we are short selling ourselves by not charging money, some find it unethical just like a healer I knew because, some believe they are working from a divine source, truly a gift from the Creator, to charge money would cheapen his work.

Actually the psychic abilities, available to everyone, are not a gift, they are a talent - stronger in some than others.  The fact is they are available for free, but the training and development can and do cost money to the individual.  Those who go off half cocked with the idea they have a 'gift' that does not require their own work, will soon burn out from lack of knowledge in protection and focus.

Nothing wrong with charging, if you can, and don't feel bad about it. Many have to charge to cover the cost of advertising, insurance, rent, tools etc. What I do hate though are the huge commercialised phone lines, they are a scam, fix, con. But that's just my opinion based on my experiences. Hopefully the repeal of the Fraudulent Mediums Act and the new law will help bring these to justice.

But I firmly believe that there are 'gifts'. Not everyone can learn and be a successful healer or reader, or medium or whatever. Sure they can pay their money, take the course and get the certificate but really quite a few are basically awful. No talent whatsoever, just going through the motions as they were taught, never wandering from the syllabus learnt, no intuition, no inspiration. Take reiki, some therapists make you feel wonderful and others- nothing, or a medium that starts off with "I have a John or Jack or James here.. could be a uncle or grandad or friend" etc fishing.  True gifts are rare and very, very, special, they can't be taught tjhey just are

But, nobody is saying that 'gifts' don't need work. They do. Use it or lose it in some cases, in others, rust sets in and a flood of light is needed to kickstart them.
