I was reading some of the other posts in this forum and then I thought of something. I have a niece who recently turned 22. When she was 18-19, she was diagnosed with anorexia and was under psychiatric treatment and started taking anti-depressants (prescribed). She is much better now, but during that time she started having all kind of experiences, like seeing and hearing things. She told her psychiatrist and obviously was told that it was effect of the drugs, so they started changing them and all that... But even after she stopped them altogether, she continued having these experiences. For example, after my father passed, she could still "smell" him sometimes; and she also "received" a specific message for a friend (from his mother who had passed years before). And she could also see and hear things that no one else could.
Some of these experiences were very frightening for her, and I think that she closed herself to them. It still happens sometimes, but not that often. I think she is less afraid now, and also feels better because she can talk about it. When it started happening, she didn't tell anybody. As we live in different countries, I only found out about a year ago, but now she always tells me when something happens to her.

Has anybody had a similar experience, where drugs (prescribed or not) seem to trigger psychic abilities?

We all have latent psychic abilities.  Things like drugs and the illness that precipitated them will open us to them in a strong way.  Yes, this is common.  It is what she wants to do with them that is of importance now.

Drugs do change your brain biochemistry so it maybe that her brain has been rewired in a way thats been beneficial.

I have seen many changes to people due to use of drugs legal and non legal, its not often that the change has been beneficial.

I know that often the things that trigger someone to start the decline into eating disorders is usually something that was personally traumatic, and I think that we can all agree that traumatic events often trigger psychic abilities to come forward... I don't know about the drugs or not... but I think from the other posts that it is possible... I think asking her about if she had anything happen before the treatment would be interesting.. most of us push things off and rationalize them... Maybe the drugs enhanced the things she was already experiencing to a point she could no longer ignore them... Just my thoughts on it anyway...

She told me that it had started when she was taking the anti-depressants, but I will ask her again if she had any of these experiences before.
But now that you mention something traumatic, during that time (almost two years ago) she also got pregnant but had a miscarriage. They also thought that maybe the drugs had something to do with it (she was taking them before she found out she was pregnant). I also lost a pregnancy years ago, so I know it is quite traumatic.
Because I only found out about all this much later, I'm a bit confused about the dates.
