how do i start seeing auras

As a matter of interest - a site outlining aura reading also included a test to see if it was the material eye or the psychic eye.  That would indicate a material possibility?

I'm pretty certain I saw the aura with my physical eyes, but equally certain now that it was the aura of the colour red (the jacket the lady was wearing) that I saw, the only question in my mind ............ why then? (I wasn't looking to see an aura). Also to-date this has been the only time I've seen the aura of a colour and then so large and vivid! I am inclined to agree with e_of_t that auras of people are seen with the spiritual self rather than the physical eyes. I had an aura reading done years ago and the lady was sitting too close to me (in my opinion) to be able to focus in a particular way to see the colours and seeing as I was sitting at the other side of the table she couldn't see the bottom part of me anyway, yet the colours she drew surrounded my whole being. I seem to recall she didn't even look all that much at me whilst doing this drawing, yet the reading was spot-on, also the one she did for my daughter (at that time, because I do know the colours change in accordance with emotions, illnesses, etc.).

soul2ebl - there are books on auras and excercises you can practise to learn to see auras, but whether the excercises actually enable one to see or read auras I don't know. If I focus in a certain way I can see the energy fields of trees, objects, etc., and in a certain light very often spontaneously. Once whilst doing tai chi I suddenly noticed in the mirrored wall the energy fields of practically everybody in the studio - I only recall that one time. I have never seen any colours surrounding anyone and if I stand in front of a mirror and focus in a particular way I can see an energy field around me but don't see any colours. That's why I was so taken aback when I saw this vivid red aura of the lady's jacket.
