Hi everyone  

This is something that just came to mind after going through some of the threads here.

Some of you mentioned having relatives as your spirit guides. As a student of astrology, in particular vedic astrology, my beliefs tend to be biased towards the possibilities of reincarnation.

For those who have got older relatives such as a grandmother or a great grand uncle etc. as your spirit guides though, how does the concept of reincarnation fit in? For lack of a better way to phrase this, aren't they supposed have been reincarnated rather than still hanging around after death?

I'm still a n00b when it comes to psychic related matters, so I'd like to clarify that it has never been my intention to anger anyone with this question. Look forward to hearing other people's thoughts on this

This is just me, but I don't believe that relatives can be guides, at least not ones recently passed. I believe relatives may be allowed to visit, and that some just stay on this plane by their choice, but to stay on as guides...no.

That said, I believe it's not a good idea to place so much importance on the idea of guides. If they exist, they are there to do just that, guide, not live one's life. To me our ultimate guides are our hearts, through which I believe God guides. For athiests like the Prof...(hahaha. Hi Prof), I still believe that our hearts are the ultimate guide. By heart I mean spiritual heart.

As for reincarnation...well...to me it is unimportant, because I believe we live this life and this is the life we should be concerned about, as well as all the other lives we share this world with.

Okay, here's my 2 cents worth     from my understanding and information I receive in the Akashic Records, Relatives can become guides, but they do continue on in their own evolution.  Most guides, do not stay with us forever, they are with us for the time their assistance is needed, which could be most of our cognizant life, and  unless they have completed their evolutions they do continue on.  I think the better explanation is that Time passes differently on the other side.  50 years here could be like one day on the other side, time has no demands in the spirit of evolution.  On the other side they (spiritual entities) are always there to assist us, even as they continue in their own spiritual evolution.  (They multitask very well).  I will say that most relatives that are posing as guides passed over long before the individual they are watching over, was born.  I have not been aware of any relatives that had passed within a 5 or 10  year span serve as a guide.  Like SideWalk Bends stated, those recently passed over can come by and visit, you can sense their presence for only a short time, but the have a lot of evolutionary work to do.  

Just one more view point to the prisim of ideas.

I don't believe relatives make our spirit guides.  They are our loved ones and we wish to see them and visit in that thought.

Reincarnation has been a proposed theory for so many wrongs in our world.  There are still many people who see spirit realms more progressive and less a revolving door for spirit entities to return.  And this idea of spirit guides is one area where people stop to think - if they are guiding us, who is revolving?

Spirit guides is a topic rife with much opinion.  It is one of those things where you work with and believe what sits right in your own experiences.  They love us and that is the important aspect.  So that when we are attuned to spirit realms we are protected and guided and no harm can come to us.
