Psychics gain information from beyond the physical through the spiritual senses of their own spirit bodies. We all possess these abilities to varying degrees, although one or two of them are often already more developed than the others. In most cases psychic information arrives by more than one means at the same time.
These psychic senses include (not intended as a complete list by any means):
CLAIR means CLEAR, in the old French usage of the word.
CLAIRVOYANCE - CLEAR SEEING OR PSYCHIC VISION
CLAIRAUDIENCE - CLEAR HEARING OR PSYCHIC HEARING
CLAIRSENTIENCE - CLEAR FEELING OR PSYCHIC FEELING
CLAIRCOGNIZANCE - CLEAR KNOWING OR PSYCHIC KNOWING.
To be psychic or function as a psychic is to gain non physical information through the use of any or all of these psychic senses. Psychics consciously choose to use their psychic senses in order to help others to enjoy happier, healthier and more successful lives. Psychics have no special powers or abilities beyond those anybody else possesses (although these abilities may not equally developed in every individual).
Clairvoyance is only one of these many senses, in which the information arrives mainly as thought pictures, images and symbols either seen in the mind's eye in visions or within dreams, or in some much rarer cases as if they existed outside of us as being completely separate. Clairvoyants are psychics who tend to favour their psychic sense of clairvoyance above their others.
